My lad has seen some GLX effect pedals which by all accounts seem to be Boss clones.

I'm a bit concerned as they seem rather cheap so the questions are has anyone tried them and are they any good?

Cheers Sp!

I don't think behringer make them but I'm at a loss to find any info on them at all really, I think I'll just have to get one and give it a good hammering before deciding. Cheers anyway.

I saw the harmony reviews (first place I usually check :p ) unfortunately not the ones he wants. iirc he wants a compressor/sustain, a super chorus and a high power distortion (Oh joy, anyone sell earplugs?? ;) )

All 3 would cost less than a new Boss so I think I'll give them a try, always put them on the auction site if they're totally carp..

Have anyone ever seen a harmony central review that's negative? I remember when korean Kramer was trying to re-start their buisiness in Europe after takeover. They couldn't get a single magazine to do a write up that wouldn't involve a lot of asterisks and bleeps. Kramer eventually folded their business and crawled back under the stone, meanwhile at harmony central "users" were wetting page after page with tears of happiness and marvel. Half of guitar hypermarkets in US make up those "user reviews" as they go.

It would have to be frying pan glued to broomstick and a single shoe lace for a string before harmony central review would give it just average score.

The reviews do tend to be rather bipolar. They're either "I'm a professional musician this whizzle-wotsit sucks" or "I play a bit and this whizzle-wotsit kicks ass" But that's the way of the site unfortunately, but at least they are independent and are reviewing it without the underlying urge to try and sell you the stuff.

I tend to use the review averages as a bias towards one product over another, rather than a sole reason for buying that particular piece of gear.

As for these pedals his GP100 > * but it's rather a beast to lug around so cheapie pedals are the order of the day :)
