Guitarists: Three questions!?

Lemon oil isn't supposed to clean your fretboard, it's to keep it oiled so it doesn't dry out and crack.

I'll second that.

Also a good tip, use old t-shirts with cleaning products. They don't leave fluffs on the guitar/strings (like the fast fret rag for example). I just cut uppan old t-shirt and put a bit in each guitar case.
 
yeah but it takes gunk off with it when you use it ... and unlike other substances doesn't harm the fretboard!


Put it on too often and the wood will go horrible, start cracking and generally ruining the guitar! ;) No more often than twice a week even for the very frequent player. Once every string change should be enough.

In 40 years I only change all my strings when I break one.
I read somewhere that Eddie Van Halen does the same and just keeps the same strings on no matter how long.
The 2 guitarists in my other band change every 2 gigs.
