Ffallic - I have no kids. (Thank Christ!) 2 cats, but they already have a months worth of food bought for them. Oh, and a vegetarian girlfriend too!

Kearney - yes, I do feel a bit better after seeing that! :D

Ben - :D Makes me feel better a little.

Reflux - Its more my delicate financial situation and the fact that a) I impulse buy and b) cant resist a bargain. :s
 
Sash - its more for the HD pr0n ;) It's an upgrade from an X800 GTO anyway.

Ffallic - maybe, but they cant play WoW or L4D :P
 
The GF and I have seperate bank accounts :D

Might go with the stealth install method, though often when i get in, she is in the kitchen cooking dinner so could sneak in and try it then :)
 
Well, the fact we have been without a boiler (no hot water on tap or radiator) for over a year means I require a little more justification! ;)

Its remarkably easy to get along without to be honest. I shower at work, the missus nips over to her sisters house, and we have a coal fire to keep us warm. Hot water bottles and snuggling also works well too!
 
1) Have a bank account she cant see see.
2) Order parts at work or when she isnt looking.
3) Get parts delivered to work or somewhere she wont be.
4) Recieve parts.
5) Put parts in bag to take into house.
6) Make an excuse to stay up while she goes off to bed.
7) Install
 
Wow.

Got it installed in about 5 mins after the GF started cooking dinner :)

Loaded up, she came back in and didnt question as to why my tv was showing "Found new hardware wizard" or why it was in "860 x 640" mode!

All my games (well, WoW and L4D are the only games I play) are now at full graphics and running very smoothly.

Got the Catalyst 9.3 drivers installed eventually, then cranked the fan speed on the card up to 100% to see how loud it was. I wish i had earplugs :( It is SO loud its ridiculous!

Now I just need/ want to look into the passive cooling options :D

Throughly loving it at the moment.
 
I havent left it on 100% manual fan control.
I did knock it back down to automatic! :D

Thouroughly impressed with it still!
 
Oh, and Im happy to report that my 480w PSU seems so far to run this with no problems :)

Nope, the missus will not notice.... for a while at least. I hope by then I will have paid the years council tax as a rebate on the guild I might get dished out to me ;)
 
Hmm..
either £175..
or £1000 (I reckon)..


Seeing as the weather is warming up and we have a plentiful supply of wooly jumpers, hotwater bottles and cuddles, I think the case is won already ;)
 
Its easy when you get used to it really.


When you havent had one for so long, you wonder what all the fuss is about.
Oh, and it has dramatically reduced our fuel bill!
£10 gas bill for 3 months!
