In support of the new album "Chinese Democracy"

Headlining at Rock in Rio in Portugal and an Austrian Tour date have been confirmed for this summer.

Would be interested to know if this is Axl and a new bunch of musicians under the GnR name or the actual guys themselves, Slash etc.

:Edit: christ this album has been in the pipeline for an age. 4 years?

axl is the only original member now.

and has been in the making for around a decade now.

People will be quick to dissmiss the new stuff but If you look around the net you'll find some leaks, amoungst them is a new leak out called 'Better' its spot on, confirmed for me that the album will be something special.

Still are you actually holding your breath about them releasing it when they say and following up with a tour?? Didn't they do a show a couple of years ago at one of the Rio gigs? Thatw as meant to be supporting the album.

I'm not saying I won't buy it but until I have it in my hands I won't believe it.

4 Years????? Try nearer 10

They had some of it on an American metal station ( KNAC.com ) last year and it got a very good response from their listeners.

I had tickets for their initial tour before they cancelled. :(

I've been waiting since around 99'

at the moment, it seems like the right time.

there has been axl spottings, people in the industry are pointing to a end of march release, the confirmed summer shows and axl said "you will here the music this year" when having a mini rolling stones interview last month.

Funny, I could swear I already saw them on the 'Chinese Democracy' tour!

P.s. A little birdie tells me they will be on the bill for a certain festival this summer...

:( Shame I'm not into Download-style stuff or I'd be well up for that.

And yeah I know, its not old GnR - but its still something.

Theres some decent material they have, im liking Better, Rhiad and the bedouins and Chinese democracy but me being an old Gunners fan they just arent Guns n Roses anymore.

I dunno. I still watched Paul McCartney to see "the Beatles" - it is possible to still enjoy it and this is the closest you'll get to seeing old GnR - Velvet Revolver will play Its So Easy if you're lucky

Whos saying i wont enjoy it?

Paul Mccartney didnt exactly form a whole new band and call them 'The Beatles' did he?

I think Velvet Revolver are closer to old Gnr. They have two of the original members :)

I don't know why Axl didn't just rename the band. If anything it shows that he is just trying to live off their legacy. If the beatles, or any other big band were to "come back" with only one original band member, then no one would consider it the same band. And I dont take this to be Guns and Roses.

I will give them a chance as a new band but they havent got off to a great start to me.

More than two I thought...isn't Matt Sorum their drummer? *beetles off to look*

I love the VR sound, it screams G&R but I'm struggling with Scott Weiland.....so contrived. I think I'll always be an Axl gal :(

Matt was just a hired musician with Gnr. When i said original members i just meant the guys who were there from the start, Matt was brought in as a replacement for Steven Adler :) .

I saw "Adler's Appetite" being advertised in a magazine a while ago - talk about milking your glory days! Do people go and see bands for a drummers?

*contrasts Paul Macca solo gigs with Ringos..*
