Will do a full report tomorrow if anyone cares, as you can imagine I'm not feeling too great. Short version:

Utter, utter, cretin traveling in the opposite direction tries to make a ludicrous overtake in the middle of rush hour despite the clear view (you can see it in the background) forcing people on my side of the road to swerve to avoid him.

I spend a fraction of a second too long looking at this moron coming towards me that I fail to see just how hard the guy in front of me has hit the brakes. I brake and swerve to avoid him, sadly he does the same thing, I catch a wheel on the grass and crash into his rear left hand side.

Of course as we all know, me hitting him = 100% my fault. Cya no claims. I'm only 3rd party so it's not going to be back on the road for a while. I hope the [expletive deleted] in the Audi that caused this gets what is coming to him, surprisingly enough he didn't stick around.

I shall try and focus on the good times. . .

gutted for you mate.

its bad enough when you damage your car when you know it's fully comp
Still look on the bright side - you're un hurt. :)

True. Typical, was gonna go fully comp when I got 3 years no claims :p (a matter of months >_<).

Also no 'ring trip with all the other MX-5's that I've already taken the holiday for =/

Ah crap, contacted the police to explain what happened I presume? Perhaps some witnesses may have got the guy's reg? It's worth a shot...

For what it's worth, someone did do that straight afterwards. I doubt anything will come of it, but at least they made the effort.

Will sleep on it, and asses the damage properly tomorrow . . .

no offence but why dont u have fully comp insurance for a nice car like that?

Because, as nice as it is, it was only worth ~1500. For someone of my age and level of NCB, fully comp worked out at a lot more than I deemed it was worth. It's a fair cop, I gambled and I lost. As I said, I was soon to change it. Such is life eh?

Ouch. Unlucky fella. You OK though?
Only hurt my pride ;)

Wow, that's some poor luck. Still, a crash you walk away from is better than one you don't. I wonder if that Audi diver even noticed the havoc he caused. Sadly, too many of his ilk seem to occupy the roads.

Oops. Doesn't look unsalvagable though. What's the structure of the MX-5 like behind the bumper? I can see the slam panel's had it but is there anything further down, like a crossmember? Any serious damage to the inner wing?

:(

It does seem TG were right about Audi drivers it seems ;)

All jokes aside, I'm not someone that judges someone on their choice of car in this way. However this particular guy is the reason that stereotype is so well known. I've been doing 500 miles a week for over 6 months so I see a lot of dodgy driving, but this takes the biscuit.

There was no room for him to move over, at all in the slightest, visibility for easily a mile and he just thinks 'ah, I'll go for it anyway, I'm sure I'll be safe'. Of course, he is right.

Yes, I am hoping it's not the end for the car. I'll have a good look at it tomorrow, and supply some more photos.

Well, better than actually being hurt, I suppose!

Seriously, feel for you about the car :)
