...just failed my driving test, going up a hill and some guy coming the other way turning right see's the L plates and a cars length gap in front of me and decides to cut me up, i hit the breaks but so did the examiner so instant fail.

Only had 4 minors otherwise :(

absolutely gutted.

Unlucky. There's no point beating yourself up about it though, just get the next test booked ASAP.

From what I gather it just seems pure bad luck, If he hadn't have been there at that momment you would have probably been ok.

Good luck for next time, and hopefully no buggers will cut you up ;)

Annoying thing is theres no test slots available within the next month at any time, any day, so its another couple hundred quid out the window and another day off work.

keep checking online, i got one within a week and had the choice of all 3 local test centres (got in at cobridge which is apparntly the buisiest in the area)

i nearly had the same thing happen to me. some moron on a bicycle decided to rid out between some park cars and i nearly ran him over. i thought i had failed from that point on but luckily the examiner didnt touch the pedals.

Which is why I did my test in a car without dual controls.....one less thing for them to fail you on if they can't hit the brakes themselves. Unlucky mate.

It's brakes not breaks. :)

I guess if the instructor hit the brakes first then he may have thought you were too slow and need more practice before being "let loose" on the road.

Yeah i'll freely admit i could've seen the guy sooner, but it was 30 seconds into the test and i was nervous and expecting people to do something crazy was the last thing on my mind, although theres no way there would've been a collision, i hit the brakes about half a second after he did.

Oh well, lesson learnt, i'll pass next time, i know i'm good enough to be let loose, just have to get a bit of luck.

Why the hell is someone else cutting you up a bloody fail?! You stopped in time and didn't have an accident?! I know you might have reacted slower, but you always do when it happens the first time as slamming on brakes is way out of most peoples comfort zone.

You can't look out for everything! No matter how lessons you have. You can't learn how to avoide idiots cutting you up.

Just book it again and do it again. I was lucky when I did my test. I was 19 and had a 125cc bike for two years before, so that helped me loads. I did my test atrush hour with a notriously strict examiner. My Instructor actually said before I went out "You'll struggle to pass at this time with this guy". But I never let that phase me and I passed with 4 minors. You have to be alert, smooth, sharp and confident. I messed up a reverse park but pulled out and tried again without panicing. I did an controlled emergency stop even though I had never done one before too.

It's luck of the draw with this, but I can see why its necessary with some people to be so strict.

Good luck on your retry.

On the test report sheet there is a section called ETA (examiner took action) and there are 2 types, V (verbally) and P (physically). I failed my test with a V, all because the examiner told me about a car coming (on reverse turn) and to brake just as I stopped. It didn't matter that I stopped the car and had seen the car coming myself, it was enough thast he had to say something. The other car posed me no threat and nor did I the other car, nevertheless I failed for ETA which I thought was extremely harsh and was angry just like you are.

I feel your pain, but you will pass. The best time to look for tests if you want to pass quickly is on weekends. I had 3 tests in 7 weeks (passed the third) and that was in Derby where the normal wating time is 8 weeks. My 2nd and third tests were both booked 3 days before i took them.

i had something similar in my 2nd test

car infront suddenly stopped so i stamped on the anchors, i could see the examiner was about to if i didnt

passed though

better luck next time:)

I also failed my first test due to someone elses mistakes, didnt have any minors at that point either!

Passed 2nd time around though so get on and book the next one!

I failed mine today too :) first test, 3 minors but I failed to look over my shoulder when coming off a roundabout so fail. booked my next up already.
