No but a 55 plate would still fall into the lower tax category, which was my general point.

Seems like a total waste of time to change a car just to save 200 quid a year on road tax.

He has the perfect opportunity to dump the Vectra and get something decent. He should take it.

So you are dipping into a joint savings account to buy these upgrades etc for the car. Now it all becomes clear!

Why don't you create another account to put money in here and there for car upgrades/breakages? Surely you arn't putting in soo much to a joint savings account that you don't have your own disposable income.

MG ZS180?

V6, lots of torque and a lovely noise. 30mpg+ to top it off, and reliable :)

You could get an 06 plate for £4k, and if you get bored supercharge it :D

I haven't met MrLOL, but from what I can gather he will never get 30mpg out of a Zed :p

Oh, and the superchargers blow them up.

The ZS180 is not the car for MrLOL :)

Dont get an ST220, or you will just be tempted to start spending money on upgrades for that too.

If you need to let your finances recover, have 18 months in something reliable and not readily open to tuning.

Wonder day you will look back and wonder why you wasted so much time being a Rover fanboy :D

It's actually the circle of life.

Fanboys keep all the old Rovers off the market so normal people don't buy one by accident.

How can anyone say a ZS180 is cheap? The £400 stupidtax and stupidly expensive cambelt service is enough reason to drop it.

Perfect example of champagne taste and beer money.

Or even a Hugh Hefner lifestyle on a Homer Simpson budget?

I coin that phrase often when refering to my own decadent lifestyle.

I find it hard to believe LOL is the first person to kill a VXR clutch. And in fairness, how many of us can honestly say £800 in December wouldn't even break a sweat? And not cheat by putting it on a card.

His VXR is 200bhp/ton, the Rover is 144. Cant see the Rover coming out on top really

Take one round some back roads with decent rubber and then voice an opinion :p

Considering I owned one and drove it pretty hard for just over 18months which included a couple of sessions at brands I know what they can do in the hands of your average car enthusiast who isn't Lewis Hamilton.
