more than just a games machine
customise how you want

I got an Xbox one and kept it for 1 week.

I then spent £1600 on a new system and I don't regret it one bit. Pc gaming is so much better IMO

XBOX ONE - £350
PS4 - £350
PC - £350

you guys are saying a PC is better than a console

ah, you mean a PC costing double/triple the amount....yeah, my dads '14 plate Audi is better than my ten year old mondeo

Are you just picking parts out you like from this thread?

He's asking if he should get a console, the ONLY reason he should get a console is if he can't afford a PC. If he can afford a PC there is literally no point in making this thread.

Can't afford a PC? Get a console.
Can afford a PC? Get a PC, because it's better.

There are so many great games that have poor graphics, the graphical quality should not be a consideration.

A good game must have the following, it must be multiplayer, it must be competitive, it must be challenging, it must contain elements of teamwork, strategy and tactics.

Almost all RTS games i play i spend most of my time zoomed out so you cannot really see any graphics.

In FPS games lower graphics give advantage along with high contrast, it doesnt look nice but you can see enemies faster and react faster.

A game like BF4 has only graphics, the vehicles are absolute rubbish, the teamwork is rubbish, the maps are rubbish. This game and a lot of other games are made for children.
You win the most subjective post of the week award!

Just because you can afford a PC doesn't mean you should buy one. I could easily buy an absolute top spec PC right now but don't want to as I don't game enough to make it worth it. Acting as if cost is the only reason to pick a console over a PC is just stupid.

Sold my PS3 and not replacing it. I got my 2500k system in 2011 and my gtx670 last year. I'm good for another 2 years imo, and then I will just upgrade.

You can't take your money with you, richest person in the graveyard, all that etc, etc, etc.

I was a die hard PC gamer, until the missus got me a PS4 for Christmas that I absolutely love. It wont be dragging me kicking and screaming away from PC games anytime soon, although it does mean I wont be upgrading so often, also I will be selective over which game I buy for which system etc.

Consoles last for years in the same way your PC lasts for years at the same spec, they are great when they are released but over time they show their age and fall behind. A good example of this would be GTA V, if you're a PC gamer and play this on an Xbox for example it is borderline unplayable, attrocious FPS and graphics, this is exactly like if you tried playing Skyrim on an 8 year old PC.

PC gaming also pays for itself over the duration of a 'generation', games are so much cheaper and you get offers consoles don't through the likes of Humble Bundle and Steam sales etc that a new GPU or CPU every 3-4 years is effectively free when you consider how much you've saved on games compared to the console.

Consoles are good and PC's are good, neither is a replacement for the other.

Lmao. I have an ok system. 4770k, 280x, 1080p monitor. Not the best, but I can play all modern games on high/ultra at over 60fps.

I still see the value of consoles, and yes, in certain situations, they are better.

They are literally only better due to the fact they are cheaper, that is it.

I enjoy PC gaming. I'm nerdy enough to be able to understand how to build and maintain my own and sort issues as and when they crop up.

HOWEVER like most people my group of friends has a diverse range of interests and ability levels. Most of them come to me for PC advice/repairs because they just don't understand.

We all like gaming together but due to the fact that they aren't a techy/nerdy as me the platform of choice is a console.

Rather than being all elitist and not playing with them I bought a console. I still game on my PC when it's just me but if my friends want to game as a group, we play on the console.

Arguing about which is best is puerile. It's like owning a supercar (PC) and then mocking others for having a normal car. They both do the same thing, get you from A to B.

Same goes for PC and console, they both get gamers playing games.

You should be ashamed...

Help me give the OP the hate he deserves for this sacrilege :D
