Hi Guys

Am thinking of buying a Trek Dual Sports 3 bicycle to replace my Diamondback MTB that was stolen last year..
At the monment it only going be used for a bit of fitness riding and for going out for bike rides with my 11 year old niece plus popping to close by shops etc

I was also looking at the Trek FX 3 Disc which is a lot lighter (12kg Vs 13.5kg) and about the same price but feel the DS 3 would give me a more comfortable ride with having front suspension and bigger tyres

Trek DS 3 (13.5kg)

i had the FX as a rental bike once. it was pretty good for general usage. as you pointed out the weigth difference, i think it's mostly down to the suspension fork and heavier tires. I personally dont think front suspension is worth the extra weight. especially entry level suspension dont tend to last very long and not very effective. i would get the FX and may be swap the tires to something like Cinturato in 32mm in the future:

very fast rolling and farily lightweight given the toughness that rivals some of the touring class tires. not the cheapest but definitely step up from the stock tires. i have the 26mm version and so far so good.
