Gym Membership - Which and How much?

I go to one called active life which is only a few minutes round the corner from where i live.

Its not ideal, i prefer old school gym's with lots of free weights and meat heads, but my old one closed down :(, but i only need it while im back home for the summer.

They had some offer on with 3 months for £52 and a £10 induction so its worked out at just over £20 a month which is pretty reasonable.

I am a member of the local council's gym which means I can use the gym's at any of the council sports centres nearby - I live out in the country though so the nearest proper gym to me is about 20-25 minles away which is silly...

They aren't great but do the job and have free weights which is the most important thing really.

Free weights are almost the only thing you need which is why i mostly work out at home now with my own... I can also go running or cycling so no real point going to the gym atm...

The only thing I find usefull is the elastic thingies you put round your shin for loading the lower leg... however strap on weights do this too..

I use the leisure center in the Village Hotel in Newcastle, its lovely, but its costing me £35 a month for an off peak membership.

I pay £12 a month subs at the boxing gym. Thats training 4 nights a week and sun morning.

And £40 a month at the village hotel (NHS discount as usually £50) and i use that 4-5 mornings a week (mainly swimming and sauna)

currently £30/month for a proper old school style gym.

thinking of joining jjb fitness on that pru health deal though in which case it'll be free, or rather, including my insurance £21/month.

where are you from??

I pay £32.50 (5% discount) and my gym is 24hr :D You have a keyfob hat unlocks the door after manned hours all you have to do is txt the owner when you train on your own and when ya leave so he knows some 1 is there solo and they leave ok.

VERY VERY handy for me, i work shifts and go after work so every other week I get to the gym at 12:40am no other gym is open then, which is kinda sad when I know im the only one training in the town then lol

I researched this late last week. With the cheapest quote for the basic level, it worked out at 27.25 for 12 months. The reason being is they charge you extras and premiums for the first 3 months. Give them a ring :)

Currently with Bannatyne's and it costs, me £32 p/m which is ok, but I can't use the gym after 4pm, but I always go during the morning, so it's cool :D It has since I joined back in October, gone up to £37p/m and you don't even get a towel anymore, shocking!
