For now though, it will be on the 17th January (my birthday by the way :D), and will be at a new venue, preferably with a more strong man/powerlifting focus, as they always lend themselves more to meets. Don't let that put you off though, you don't need to be strong or in to that kind of training for it to appeal, I'm the biggest bro out there and definitely don't lift as a strongman or powerlifter, however that type of lifting does allow a more team based focus and it's more of a laugh. I will add some bro stuff in too don't worry

As usual an epic feast will be involved. And this year I'm going to do a proper award ceremony for the Gym Rat awards (prepare for budget trophies again), as votes won't be posted in the thread but instead emailed to me so it will be a surprise as to who wins what.

Bro...it's not though is it. It's just because you can do more team games based on that. Not much fun in a curl off. It's not about strength but more those type of events, it's more just for a laugh. You know I'm the biggest bro of all...

I'll put you down

We had a brilliant meet on Saturday! Thanks everyone that came, and thanks to Morba for letting us use the unit. I have thanked him plenty of times already but I can't stress enough how awesome it was to use the unit for the meet.

Started off in the freezing cold doing some yoke runs. We watched the guys who are regulars have a go, making a 400+kg yoke seem like it was nothing, cue us trying and I think we all were a little bit taken back at just how hard it was. Freefaller stole the show though, rocking up with an impressive 270kg effort.

Then on to tyre flipping, and the 350kg tyre was rolled out and many people failed spectacularly. Freefaller again doing a massive 4 flips in a row though to show us how it is done. Fireskull did an epic lift where he walked up without thinking and just flipped it, then when he actually tried to do it, he couldn't, was quite bizarre.

Next we went inside, where it wasn't much warmer :p and did some log pressing. This was an interesting lift as so many of us are actually quite strong at pressing, but were humbled big time by the log. We worked our way up from a 40kg axle to a 70kg log, and the difference between the two was huge. Mark was on hand to show us how it's done, as well as making it look like it weighs nothing when having a go himself. Keg pressing was another variation and despite being less than the log, fewer people managed it due to the awkwardness of the lift.

Finally it was atlas stones time. We've all seen them on worlds strongest man, and finally we got to try it. 80kg was the starting stone, and we all got to warm up on it without the tacky first. Once we were all tacky'd up (quite possibly the stickiest substance known to man), we gave the next 105kg stone a go with varying levels of success. The regulars were on hand for some motivation and roared Freefaller on to an epic 120kg stone lift.

Once we used Delvis's T-shirt and lots of white spirit to get the tacky off, we headed down to Grill Stock for some much needed food and discussion about the days lifts.
