I'm looking to get some new headphones that I can use at the gym, most likely with the usual iPod Nano / armband combo.
I'm currently using Sony EX-71's, but they tend to come a bit lose, and I'm sure I can do a bit better sound wise.

So any recs. for some decent headphones that will stay in place and block out a fair amount of external noise? :)

I use Sennheiser CX300's for the gym. They sound decent, and stay in my ears no matter how much I move around. And they are well cheap at about 15 quid. I'm sure you can get much better sound quality for a bit more money, but at the end of the day thay just get covered in sweat anyway :)

The senns will have same problem as Sony's re falling out as both basicly same fit.

For gym try the Sony EX85's - they sit it your ear rather than in your earcanal and have MUCH beter sound than the senns and ex71's.

If they sit in your ear, then isn't that looser than ones that go all the way into your ear?

You do get a selection of different sized ear 'rubber things' to find the best fit for your ears.

Anyway, I still recommend them as mine don't fall out of my ears. :)

Even when running?

No the EX85's are not loose - they have the same silicon buds as the sony ex71's and senns cx300 and go into your earcannal's, but the actual unit is bigger - so the main driver rests in your ears unlike the cx300's which hang from your ear cannals. Because these cannal phones sit in your ears they dont fall out or boom while running.

These are the EX90's but the EX85's are the same but plastic case so a bit cheaper.

Iv found that after using it for a few months and sweating on them its best to change them so i stick to cheap in ear ones or the wireless mp3 headphones.

Wireless headphones = rubbish sound
Cheap headphones = rubbish sound

Ive got $300 canalphones and have no problems with them re sweating - just look after them - wipe them down if any sweat gets on on them. I go to gym 5-6 times a weeks with them too!

my friend bought a pair of cheap bluethooth headphones for his phone and they arent half bad. i-tech i think they are made by and i tell you what....id rather use those than my ex90's at the gym. even ex90's fall out from time to time. whereas the headband-style phones just dont, and his are perfectly listenable too. and of course wireless.

OT: which reminds me, vegetarian, what do you think of the triple.fi 10 pro's?

Yes, I do a bit on the bike, then cross trainer, and running machine. I may have a different shaped ear hole than you though, so I can't guarantee they won't fall out of yours, lol.

I just did a quick Google for 'Gym Headphones' and it came up with a lot of alternatives, but I won't link in case of competitors.

Ive not heard them yet mate - but from what Ive heard Westone ES2's sound better than the 10's and E500's"

For now Ive spent enough on headphones for a while - sticking with my UM2's till I get more £££ lol

OK LOL but if you spending the kind of money on the 10's and E500s then you can afford the ES2's too ;)

The main reason I would not go for the 10's is that they are too big. The UM2's sit nicly in my ears...
