Gym - Where To Start...

Hi all

Apologies if there's a thread that covers this.

Started going to the gym recently to try and up my fitness/strength for the new volleyball/basketball seasons starting here and was looking for some advice on how to approach the gym and the nutrition that goes with it.

I'm 6 foot 4 male who weighs roughly 13st.

Looking to strengthen pretty much everything (upper and lower body) and was wondering if anyone had any tips/programs to follow to achieve this. I run/cycle several times a week so the fitness is coming back gradually. I've been following a lot of The Body Coach stuff for the HIIT's and mostly eat the meals that are in his books.

Also, what is the best for pre-workouts, during-workout, and post-workout nutrition? I already eat relatively healthy and only drink water/fruit juice but don't know if there are any other supplements worth taking. My volleyball coach keeps insisting that I join Herbalife but I don't fancy buying into a pyramid scheme and heard a lot of horror stories from people who use it.
