Gyorgy Ligeti 1923-2006

Composer Gyorgy Ligeti died today at the grand age of 83.

Probably best known for having scored a large portion of the music used by Kubrick in 2001:A Space Odyssey, he's nonethless produced a great body of work that's highly respected by many and I'm sure will continue to be for years to come.

RIP Gyorgy Ligeti.

Ah, I knew he was ill but hadn't heard about his death until I caught this thread falling off the bottom of the page. He was a terrific composer with a great personality and a genuinely warm regard for musicians from all walks of life. I'm glad I met him the single time I did
