Controversial subject, Gypsies and Travellers. Some keep themselves to themselves, some wreck havoc among the community.

I have a question for you all.

Would you live within 2 miles of a Gypsy/Traveller site.

No. I used to live in the town with the biggest settlement of them in Europe until they were moved on. They would cause havoc in the town, my mate had his jaw broken by them on Christmas eve, another mate is quite muscular and they would start on him in pubs on a regular basis, they would park horizontally across 4 disabled bays outside the supermarket in their pick up trucks and vans.

Absolute scum. A friend of the family used to work in the local primary school and every non-traveler child left so it was purely used by ******. House prices were hit due to the negative publicity. Absolutely no good to come of these people.

Someone once let some use a corner of the carpark at work (supposedly for a couple of days or something) - the original lot kept themselves to themselves and didn't cause a problem but I guess the word got out - it wasn't pretty - all day police operation to remove them in the end and they were still cleaning up for weeks after.

My instinct would be to not live too close though its not something really thought out.

Nope the younger generation are horrible. Obnoxious trying to give themselves a reputation.

Hell no. Either one I've ever dealt with has either been attempting to commit a crime, has just committed one or has been drunk.

I remember someone on these forums telling how he'd bought a laptop from some gypsies for a couple of hundred quid. Ended up walking away with a bag of potatoes after a crafty switcheroo :D

Nope, scum of the earth. I live in Orpington which has it's fair share of them and I have not yet to meet a decent one in 20 years.

Steer clear.

We had a 'settlement' around half a mile from our last house. On moving in day we had literally just walked in the door and there some was grubby 'erbert stood at the front door trying to flog us a generator. Soon after we were verbally abused whilst walking the dog, and finally when I told another 'erbert of about 12 to stop swinging on our For Sale board, he actually took his shirt off in the street and put his fists up.......they are in another world and they can stay there
