I've got some h.264 files that i would like to play on my MCE box, so i need to get h.264 working in WMP. It works fine in VLC but WMP gives the error that there's no available codec. FFDShow is installed but doesn't seem to do anything, and i gather VLC just does h.264 out of the box without any extra codecs?

Any ideas as to how i can get this to work? It's quite annoying that FFDShow appears to do nothing at all!

Thanks :)

Do you have CoreAVC and Haali media splitter?

That should do for .mkv or H.264 .ts files. You'll need quicktime alternative for h.264 .mov files.

ffdshow really should be playing the media.... have you got the latest version? make sure also that h.264 decoding isnt disabled in the ffdhow video decoder settings.

ffdshow works fine playing h.264's with media player classic for me. i do have quicktime alternative installed though

It needs to work in Windows Media Player. FFDShow seems to do nothing with any video files (and yes, it's a new version).
