With Vista (and XP before it), it's possible to view thumbnails for certain file formats in Explorer. Off the top of my head, that includes .jpg, .gif, .wmv and a few others.

I've got some MPEG4 H.264 files (extension .mp4) that I'd also like Explorer to use thumbnails for. Is there any plug-in or add-on for Vista that will allow me to do it?

Cheers!

More to the point, if you've got Haali's splitter installed (More than likely if you have MP4s), then enable thumbnails in its configuration.
The Vista codec pack will do nothing except allow him to play them if he hasn't already.

For that matter, the CCCP is a far better codec package ( http://cccp-project.net )

64bit is a little more annoying (less codecs) but I've always had the option (for thumbnails) at the install stage with k-lite and real alternative for 32bit codecs.
