H100i and 5930K

Slightly off topic (sorry), but also are the sealed water coolers (like H100) quieter these days? I'm considering the 5930K or 5960X and once used a H50.1 cooler. It performed well and was reliable(which was one of my concerns), but could always hear the rush of air going through the radiator. I use a double fan non-water cooler these days (NOCTUA NH-D14) and find the simplicity and quietness appealing, and seems to perform as well as the H50.1 did, albeit on a different processor so hard to tell really.

Ultimately I tend to go for a very conservative overclock anyway but find myself considering a seal water loop again, they do at least use a little less space!
Posted here as always interested in reply to Klunt on his question and ties in with it.
 
Love my H75, pretty much silent! Even with the fans at full-pelt I wouldn't describe it as 'noisy'

Holding on for an upgraded one next Summer now, whatever the best 240mm version is out at the time :)
 
Quiet vs loud largely depends on what fans you use. Most of the time the pumps used on these are quiet even in high settings. I have previously had an H80i, H100 and H110. All excellent but changed the stock fans to suit my requirements and put them through my own fan controllers rather than the cooler's.
 
I'm more specifically asking about how the h100i copes with the extra heat output of the extra 2 cores of the 5930k over something like the 3770k .
 
I'm a big fan of my H50. Has given steady service for the last few years.
I'll be going for a H105 next though when I get a 5930k (or 5820, not sure yet) due to the extra rad thickness.
 
Just purchased a H100i with my 5930k so will let you know when I overclock, at the moment I seeing high 20's idle and high 50's under prime95 load with a stock CPU.

Yeah sorry 4.4ghz @ 1.250v max prime95 temp is 72c and 4.5ghz @ 1.325v max prime95 temp is 89c, got some tweaking to get the temps down on this O/C yet but I think I can shave 5c off that at least, 4.6 same temps but unstable after 20mins of prime at this moment. All tested in a poor airflow case H440.
 
In the olden days, the comparisons always showed AIO coolers were no better than top air coolers (for heat dissipation or noise). Is there something about the heat output by these new Haswerll-es that suggests an AIO would perform better than the top ends air coolers.

i really want to know this too.

Pretty sure no high end air cooler keeps up with a 240mm radiator AIO cooler these days, without having delta (insanely loud) fans on a huge monstrosity of a heatsink (which could bend/crack your motherboard over time)

Really want to find a comparison on web which shows this to be the case. Then i know that AIO is for me.
