Hi all

I recently moved my computer bits into a new case Define R5

I have a h100i and wanted it front mounted however it wouldn't quite reach in a traditional way so I had to fiddle bits in a little, currently i am only running one stock fan which is what I needed to mount to the radiator in order for it to reach. What I am wondering is could I put another 140mm case fan in front of where I have the stock fan, still leave the stock fan on but unplugged basically just using it as a mount and still be okay with cooling? At the moment cooling is fine however the noise of the fan is annoying and I have a spare case fan?

Thanks here is a diagram that I hope will make things clear,

It won't explode or anything if you try and see for yourself. Worst case scenario just a little higher temps. You'll still hear the noise of one stock fan though, and unless you tune the fan profile it will work harder to cool as the other would be stopped.

I'd probably just replace the H100i fans, if tuning the fan profile didn't work already. If I'm not happy with the tone or volume at about 1200 RPM then the fan/s must go. You wouldn't be the only one who's replaced the stock H100i fans, put it that way.

Oh and also, I am currently only running one of the stock fans and then a front case fan is almost directly onto the rad, with a couple of centimetre gap, this is just how I could get the rad mounted at the front, so maybe I would only need to replace the one stock fan i'm using?
