Hi all,

After spending some time trying to troubleshoot why my pc was running on high tempos from simply browsing I have re-seated my cpu (3570k) and water block (corsair h100i) still running much the same.

IU have run prime95 and the max temps I was getting was 91c is this normal, I am trying to figure out if this is just running hot or there is a real problem with the water cooler.

I was Messing with the fan profiles in my bios the other day and change the fans to manually change the pwm 0.75 per 1 degree. Then proceed to play a game. CPU trees shot through the roof. I figured it out by looking at HWMonitor and realised I had set the pump to change speeds by pwm signal. Went back to bios and changed this to full-speed and all is fine again.

Maybe you have something similar?

Could be a pump issue as mentioned. But, what are temps like after a reseat in normal use such as gaming? Prime 95 is notorious for causing very high temps on ivybridge/haswell/devils canyon cpu's.

That is true. My suspecting the pump was based on Jonnibravo first post, ".. my pc was running on high tempos from simply browsing I have re-seated my cpu (3570k) and water block (corsair h100i) still running much the same."

Well reseated a second time although the temps are still the same gaming goes around 76c for about 10 minutes game time it is better but I am still getting high low load temps, when just booting it gets to 76c then settles at 40c. when it was first installed I was seeing temp no more than 30 c now it gets 40 upwards and once the temps go up they never seem to get below 45c even if I leave them idle. Also turning the fans full up make little difference. I'm really perplexed I will try the suggestion about the pwm control but corsair link says it's running constant full speed at 2308rpm, I may install the stock fan and if that does the same I guess it must be air flow in the case.

Ok I have installed the stock fan on the pc and the beginning temps are starting around 27-34c the average temp after 10 mins is roughly 35-36c, significant improvement. The highest temp recorded after 20 mins is 50c and the temps stayed pretty stable throughout there no where near as erratic.

The H100i started from cold boot water temp started 31.9c probably 25c room temp and steadily rose to 38c then started to go back down. The cpu temps were in the 40's and were much more erratic jumping around top temp was 59c. I am seeing much more stable temps from the stock fan.

Could this mean the fan has been incorrectly installed despite it initially being ok when first installed.

Little confused by what you posted.

When you say 'stock fan' do you mean 'stock cooler'?
You put the stock radiator fans back on the H100? You took off the H100 and put the stock cooler on?

Your last sentence is even more confusing.

Yeah, what does stock fan mean bud? Makes no sense. I've got a h100i cooling a 5930k so I may be able to help...

I assume he means the stock heatsink, comparing it to the h100i makes me believe so anyway. You really need to clear up if you mean actual fans or the heatsink though fella! :)

Indeed, We shouldn't be asked to help someone troubleshoot problems without all the information needed. Assumptions don't cut it

I have a similar configuration to your setup (3570 non K instead of your 3570k, overclocked to 4ghz, with the H100i cooling it). Using the stock fans that came with the H100i mounted in a Pull configuration, my temps never exceed 32*C for general use (browsing, word, etc). Ambient temperature is 21*C.

Using Prime, the temperatures just about hit 50*C. So I would imagine that your own is not seated well, or there is something wrong with the pump in the H100i, or you are trying to overclock your CPU well beyond what the H100i can handle.

Can you give us more details on your setup (Overclocking speed, volts, etc) and what you meant by "stock fan"? Was that the Stock Intel Heatsink and Fan that came with the CPU? Or Stock Fans that came with the H100i?
