h100i fans

I am looking for quieter replacement fans for my h100i.

I was planning to go for some noctua fans but I am wondering if they will plug directly into the h100i like the default fans do.

If not, any other recommendations?

what connections does the h100i fancontroller have? those noctuas are PWM so they use a 4pin connection.

PWM works by running the fan at full voltage but it rapidly switches the fan on and off. Standard 3 pin fans have their speed regulated by input voltage adjustments.

Ah thanks for that. I will check tomorrow as i can't remember right now but thats a pretty important piece of advice :)

The H100i comes with custom SP120 fans as standard (they have a higher max speed and thus better airflow/pressure flat out) and they are considered about the best rad fans at the moment before Typhoons, so can you not just slow down the stock fans?

I currently have the fans on quiet mode, which is about 1000rpm and keeps my oc under 60c at 100% cpu use. But they are still the loudest thing in my case. Its more of a rattley/mechanical/vibratey noise that they make that is the irritating thing. Probably case vibrations. Compare this to the sp120's that are just the sound of moving air.

The h100i fans aren't the same as sp120's as i have some of them too for around my hdd cage. The sp120's are quieter and don't make the same rattling noise. The h100i fans don't come with the rubber corners that the sp120's have so this is probably why they are quieter.

I chose the sp120's primarily for their colour, but on the h100i i have the fans mounter about the cooler in the space the 690 II has for fans. For the new fans i am not limited by appearance and would rather choose some of the best I can get.

There's a firmware update for the H100i that addresses that. I used to get a similar noise on quiet mode but it stopped after the update. I do still hear it bit when booting, but once in windows it stops.

i'm currently running 1.0.5.

I'm guessing no one really bothers with changing the h100i fans then?

Yes, and yes :)

Same as mine but i didn't bother to try the stock fans out. I used two GT1850's inside my 600t as exhaust pushing air through the radiator and out through the roof of the case. They are so quiet, even at full speed they make less noise than my case fans which are all bitfenix spectre pro's.
