Hi

Been trying to figure out how to install the h100i v2 with an FM2 motherboard.

I have followed the instructions and removed the two black clips that the stock cooler clipped onto.

But when it came to using the supplied mounting hardware is when the trouble began.

The 4 black stand off screws for AMD have nothing to bite into as there is no backplate on this motherboard as the hardware there already was held in by nylon threaded rawl plug type things.

Also there is no other mounting hardware for AMD only intel and it doesn't state on the box that it is included either so i am assuming they left it out because most applications are intel sockets.

Now unless I've missed something I'm assuming i will have to purchase some mounting hardware for this? At £19.99 thats a bit steep as i'll be upgrading anyway to an intel board but i just wanted to install this as a go between until i can afford the rest of the parts.

I have been looking at backplates on auction sites but I'm unsure if it is what i need to get this secured
Any advice?

Thank You

Isn't the backplate that comes with the cooler a universal one that fits both Intel and AMD sockets? All reviews seem to suggest that it is.

No the LGA intel is further spread out so wont go in. I hacked it and removed the "lugs" from the intel backplate and secured the mounting standoffs to it then installed the cooler

It has contact with the cpu like it should and temps are reading at 27-29c idle with nothing strange happening.

Wouldn't recommend this on a cpu you care about but i just wanted to try it out since it was a new toy and all.

I'll report back if it sets on fire and burns everything down.

Should come with an Intel and an AMD backplate, if there is no AMD backplate...send it back .

On the instructions it states use backplate from motherboard which I'm assuming most amd boards come with.

There used to be an amd kit in the V1 i had if irc but on this one no and there is no mention to use one or on the box that it contains an adapter

The instructions specifically mention using the backplate from the board and the amd plate which simply slides and clips into the cooler head itself from there you bolt it down to the standoffs

I played a few games with it last night and it didn't go above 65c and as the amd apu run hot anyway i would say thats a result with a bit of jimmying about i didn't have to buy anything as i'll be reusing it when i get the other parts for my build later on

If it's meant to come with one I'm pretty sure corsair would send a replacement if you ask them directly. They do have very good customer from my own personal experience.

Nope v2 doesn't come with the backplate only the mounting plate for the cpu cooler itself I've checked unboxing videos and it concurs the same.

That high price and it doesnt even come with the hardware needed ? pfft ....there are other coolers that are cheaper , just as good and come with what you need to use them

Was a bit miffed by it but none too concerned as its going to be used in my new build once i decide on a motherboard the choices are endless!

Seems I've made it work through some bodgery though and its held up with no explosions or leaks so all is well
