Hey guys,
Just wondering if you leave the plastic on the backplate? I know its a daft question but I dont want to bugger my new Haswell build before its even running! :D

Cool. The backplate has metal screws that go straight into the mobo from behind and I cant help feeling there should be rubber washers on there to stop direct contact with the mobo.

If you mean the plastic on the backplate, I don't think it's gonna make much difference if you keep it on though.

I left the plastic on the backplate on for insulation purposes

i didnt see an advantage in removing it so i left it there

Leave the plastic on. You can only short a mobo once.

Ha ha yeah that couldnt be more right :)

I left it on anyways and I am inpressed with the cooler. Ive managed a 4.6ghz overclock on my 4770k with 2400mhz on the mem and prime 95 never went above 84. What I found more impressive though is when I stopped it it jumped back to 40 degrees in 2 seconds! Used to take my h50 ages to cool back down again.

I take it the backplate is metal then on the H100i? if it is then I would absolutely not remove it, leaving it on will not cause any issues as it's just a bracket and I'd rather a plastic coat sandwiched between the metal plate and mobo.

My old Corsair A50 had a metal backplate with a plastic shield, it makes no sense to remove it and surly it's put there for a reason other than to protect it during shipping as there really isn't anything to protect, it'd be like buying metal washers and receiving them with a protective plastic, Leave it on OP.

Edit: sorry OP, just saw your post above saying you left it on, wise decision.

Sorry if you guys are getting conflicting information about the plastic shield on any of our coolers. Leave the plastic shield on the back plate - Do NOT remove it.
