Another thread from me about coolers in a week but this time it is for me. I have the aforementioned cooler and the fans driving me up the wall. There is this annoying kind of whir noise when they get above 1000rpm. Looking around and it seems to be a common thing with these fans if you mount the rad at the top of your case and the fans are exhausting. Something to do with the magnets in the fans and the rotation of them acting against each other. Whatever it is, I appear to not be alone. Anything below 1000rpm they are fine.

Any recommendations for replacement fans for these? They need to be static pressure right? I see some Noctua ones mentioned a lot, I think it is these

£20 per fan seems a lot when I would need to, so is there anything a bit cheaper? I will consider all options at the end of the day based on feedback.

Thanks per usual.

Hi, keaneo. You have the same issue? Using the corsair link software I dropped the rpm to around 900rpm and the noise has gone but this feels some what of a cheat because you would think they take this into consideration. I have seen those fans mentioned in a few places and they seem a popular choice.

hello, yeah i understand you can drop the speed etc but like you said you should not have too.

I purchased the new ML120 Pro 120mm Premium Magnetic Levitation Fans so i will let you know if they are any better

Wasn't up the other day when I was looking, not watched yet, but tiny tom is a cool guy so I would trust his review good or bad.

Yeah have seen his review, but I personally feel that it is a bit scripted, I was trying to find someone who personally gone out and paid there hard money, than someone who is sponsored by the brand to review the product.

Most fans make some kind of noise above 1000rpm, TBH.

Not quite - You want the NF-F12s. The P12s are pretty good all-rounders and quieter, but the Fs have higher static pressure.

You get what you pay for though, including accessories and a 6-year warranty.

Other fans to consider include:
EK Varder F4-ER - make sure it's the ER version, not the standard one.
Blacknoise NB e-Loop B12-4
Even the Noctua NF-F12 IndustrialPPC 2000rpm models aren't that loud on full tilt.

Corsair SP120s are very good, but very noisy.

Are you using the push and pull method, for some reason mine, started making a strange noise this morning.....
Strange in what way?
When did you last clean the dust out between rad and fans?

I don't think tiny tom is sponsored by corsair, in fact I come away from watching the video with the view that these fans and not worth the money, I'd need 5 for £100, so I'll pass lol :)

The ML120 Pro are expensive fans, but I'm really pleased with them. Silent at lower rpm and really shift a lot of air at higher speeds.

I have just replaced 6 in my case and wouldn't go back to my previous mix of SP120 & AF120's.

Compared to the SPs, most high end fans are better these days.

But how well do they still perform at low rpm?
How loud are they to you when shifting lots of air?

idle low and silent and keep the cpu well cooled cant fault them.
any fans at max speed make noise

I find at 400rpm to 800rpm they are silent. But I've set mine to around 1000rpm and I can hardly hear them (I like a silent PC) this gives a good breeze running though the case.

At full 2400rpm I'd say they are a fair bit quieter then the fans that come with the h100i v2 and produce more airflow.

I like the range it gives you, normal use they are silent but they can ramp up and perform well with an acceptable amount of noise. Best of both, where as the previous corsair SP's came in either quiet or performance versions which meant you had to choose. I feel with the ML's you can get the best of both.

I've just replaced the SPs on my H100i to the ML120 Pros too. Such a massive upgrade. Quieter for sure.

I run at around 1400-1600 default. At 1200rpm they're very quiet indeed.

I've just replaced my H100i V2 fans (SP120L's) first with AF120 LED's (because I'm a moron and didn't notice they were only 3 pin) and now with ML120 LED's.

The ML120's are massively quieter than the SP120L's. I did originally keep one of the SP120's for a separate intake fan but it was way louder than all 3 of the ML120's (2x rad, 1x case exhaust) put together so I've disconnected it until I can pick up another one.

So yeah, ML120's are definitely expensive but are just really good fans.
