I just ordered one of the Manufacturer refurbished Corsair H100's, and I have a question I would like to ask. The H100 will be replacing my Gelid GX-7 (dual fan) which is connected to the motherboards CPU fan header.
I will be using the Bitfenix Spectre Pro 120mm fans which I already have installed. They will be on top of the cases drawing cool air (down) into the case, with the rad inside. Should these be connected to the H100 or would it be better to leave them connected to the 600T's fan controller?

My system

I'd be mounting it the other way tbh. Exhausting hot air out of the top otherwise you're going to be pushing against nature. Heat rises.

As for where to connect the fans, it's down to what you want them to do. Do you want them to change their output determined by the CPU temp or are you happy just to have them at a 'fixed' RPM which you can manually adjust via the controller?

It's a tough one tbh. Corsair seem to advise pulling cool air down into the rad, instead of cooling the radiator with already warm air. It's 12 of one and half a dozen of the other! :D
I was concerned about damage to the CPU if I connect to the 600T controller, but I would rather do it this way. Do the profiles on the H100 control the pump speed also ?

I'm in the same postion just ordered a H100 (on the slow boat) and am now unsure how to set it up.
I can see problems with both ways, If i have it blowing out it's pulling warm air comming off my GFX and pushing it though the rad, But if i have it pulling cold air from outside over the rad it is the pushing hot air on to my GFX.

As for the corsair controler I think i'm gona set it to a seprete fan controler as i dont trust the corsair one at all (Had 3 failures already)

Actually, thermally-driven buoyancy is irrelevant in a ventilated PC case environment.

Thermal convection currents are important in large spaces with *very still* air. Within a computer case, the ratio of fluid momentum (i.e. the force arising from the speed of the airflow as driven by the fans) to that of any density differentials (i.e. the buoyency force arising from the different temperature of the air) is incredibly high (typically well over 1000). In short - the heat follows the path of the airflow. The "heat rises" principle does not come into play. There is therefore no need to vent from the top of the case.

To answer the question of the OP - have the fans blowing cool air in. If you blow air onto the radiator which is X-degrees warmer, then your CPU temperature will necessarily be X-degrees higher. You want the air that cools the radiator to be as cool as possible.

As far as overall case airflow, don't worry about having "too many" fans blowing in. A slight positive pressure inside a case is a good thing (forces air to come in only through fans, which keeps dust to a minimum assuming there are dust covers on the fans). As long as you have some open areas for passive ventilation at the back, then the air will escape just fine with very little resistance. Personally, I keep the PCI-e expansion slot covers off to provide extra space for exhaust (I have 4 fans blowing in, including the closed-loop-water cooler), and only one venting.

tl;dr: Doesn't matter if you don't exhaust out the top - in a computer case the 'heat rises' principle is irrelevant. Do blow cool air in from outside to cool the radiator. If you have an imbalance of fans blowing in to venting out, open up some PCI-e card covers at the rear of your case.

I have the H100i installed now, and I tried out Corsair Link 2 software but found it a bit poop. The interface was buggy and half the time, the fans didn't actually change when I tried to adjust them. I have hooked all the fans up to the 600T's built in fan controller, but i'm now looking for a nice 4 channel unit. Any recommends?

Bit risky trusting the built in fan controller as they are known to fail. I had my H100 fans connected to my 650D fan controller and came back to an 80°c CPU one day!

I ran all my case fans off my motherboard for a long time until I updated the software and it simply no longer worked. Now I've got a Lamptron FC2, which I'm not sure about as the fans only start spinning after the knobs are at 30%. Might try out a Bitfenix White Fan Controller next as they've been rated quite well!
