This is the game John Smedley said was dedicated to SWG veterans. Although I'm unsure as to how true that is going to be it certainly sounds as though it is following a similar path in terms of a large, player driven sandbox.

From what I've read it is planned for PC release first, followed by PS4.

So excited for this :o

The resemblance to DayZ is to be expected really, after all they are both meant to simulate the real world in the same situation. I think a lot of people will initially disregard this as "ANOTHER Zombie game?!" but the potential is there for it to be so awesome.

They did drop the ball massively with SWG but that was mainly sue to Lucasarts pressuring them in to changing things when they didn't need changing. I haven't really experienced any other SOE ball dropping but then again the only other SOE game I've played is Planetside years after its hay day and more recently PS2.

I'm glad it's you posting all this gibberish dg as you already have a reputation for it so people know to pay no attention - if it were anyone else people might actually listen :p

I don't think anyone is under any illusion as to what Free to Play means - of course it is to get you in the door to pay! They're not a charity!

There are a number of things that this game is promising that make it stand out from pretty much all the rest, and that's what I'm interested in. If I'm honest I'm not really fussed about it being zombies, I'm more interested in the fact that it has proper crafting, an economy and is from a developer that has created amazing things in these areas in the past.

Yeah I'm tired of this too from having to sort out other threads in the past. Please keep your nose out of this DG. You may argue that it's down to others but these issues seem to gravitate around yourself. It's nothing to do with your point of view but it's the way you go about it. You should know by now that you are particularly good at getting yourself suspended when you get in these sorts of discussions, please don't make me be that guy! You can choose to stop arguing in such a destructive manner or or choose to continue to cause disruption which will end badly for you - this applies to everyone.

I'll just be removing posts that get on my nerves from any side as I don't want my thread being derailed.

All the ones currently out there are unpolished and lacking though.

no one has come in and made THE killer game in the genre.

the fact they are leaving in hardcore elements and obviously have huge budget and a non broken engine makes me hopeful.

Dayz just doesn't cut it anymore.

This is what I'm hoping for, the polished, fully finished real deal that the others haven't been. DayZ felt very much like a mod and although it was excellent as a proof of concept I think more can be achieved, especially by a developer experienced with both sanbox MMORPGs and MMOFPSs and a big budget.

Time will tell! They mentioned a few times on that twitch feed interview earlier that the development cycle has been extremely short, I wonder how short that is exactly...

I believe they plan to add different environments as the game matures. I would expect a city to be incredibly resource heavy to develop, and counter productive to the player driven sandbox/territory/farming/hunting they want as their core.

It makes sense to develop that first, then add cities and other special points of interest for established communities to battle over at a later stage when things are perhaps becoming more settled (maybe stale).
