Hi

Was wondering if it is worth getting a better 120mm fan than the stock one that comes with the H50. The stock one is pretty good at pushing air into the rad but would i notice a huge difference with a better fan?

ie more powerful = lower temp?

If so what one is the most popular or what you would recommend? Not really familiar with the names? Apache ? Noctura? Gentle Typhoon? I have a push/pull setup.

Cheers

Currently I have an Apache (very good) and a be quiet fan (also good) at the rear of my case to save room inside. a push and pull configuration took 8 to 10c off the temps. and I found replacing the coolermaster fan with a more efficent apache helped a little. make sure you have PMW control in the bios for the apache as it doesnt like the motherboard to use voltage controll. I found the fan didnt start till it hit 33c or so till I updated my bios to find a pmw controll for cpu which solved this. but none the less made a lot of difference. I also replaced the thermal paste with my own 2 or 3c again dropped

It's the basically a faster spinning akasa apache, use the pwm or a fan controller for when you dont need the full rpm. Another well used (in watercooling especially) high static pressure fan to look at are the scythe gentle typhoons.

I see there a Alaska Ultra Quiet Viper (yelllow/black), is that a cross between the apache and viper. It says 3.4 pin connector does that mean it could be either?? Sorry for being a noob, PMW??

Read some good stuff with the Gentle Typhoon too anyone got one for their H50?
