I've currently got my H50 setup with the supplied fan. An obvious upgrade is to push pull with two fans.

I'm about to hit buy on this:

But will I get much benefit from two Vipers versus one with the H50 supplied fan?

one viper fan on the H50 is more than enough. I did try two viper fans as a push pull on the H50, no different in temperature (only 1 or 2 degrees less than 1 fan)

2 degrees sounds pretty decent as long it doesn't increase noise too much, I hear the Vipers are pretty quiet though.

depends on various setups , whether pulling in or out , type of case , location of rad.
id get 2 anyway, i found a massive diffference when using the apache blacks, the vipers are supposed to be even better ive been told.

I've got this case

It's only got a small amount of room at the back for exhaust so the more air I can shift the better.

if it was me i would have it push/pull extracting out of the back.
i see theres just 1 fan pulling in, but not sure if you have side panel fans for that case.
cooling the cpu should be fine , if you feel the need to shift more warm air away from the board, add side fans if you can.

Easy set up: get H50-1, get 2 x viper fans, get splitter cable and get H50-1 as a push pull to the back of your rear fan as a exhaust of your case but removed the case rear fan first to be with replaced with a viper fan and you are sorted beauty.

The full load of both viper fans on H50-1 noise isn't that bad at all.

Actually the difference in cooling performance at load is maybe 2-4C so if you can justify that for the price then its okay.

I put an apache and viper together as I had an apache lying around, and so bought another viper just to see if having 2 fans at the same speed made a difference. The answer is not really! One thing with the apache is I think its idle speed is faster than the viper so actually at idle 1x viper + 1x apache was cooler than having 2 vipers! But at load it was maybe 1-2C cooler.

It is louder on load though but at idle its pretty much the same noise level.

Still I may just remove one fan and have just one pushing cool air as the difference in temperatures arent THAT much.

What I found to help much more was to exhaust the hot air out of the top of the case.

Is that PWM splitter cable a 3 pin or 4 pin as my fan on the H50 connects to a 4 pin motherboard connector. Also should the pump be connected to the chassis fan connector or the PWM connector.

Push/pull on the H50 yeilds little difference from a single fan setup. primarily because the rad is so thin, in some intance we found it made the rad hotter! A bit pointless to be honest.

Okay, new plan. At the moment I have one fan in pull. Going to switch it to one fan in push and mod the case to have an exhaust at the top and use the second Viper for that.

I have the same setup as OP is buying/bought and it lowered the temps by 8 degrees from the stock H-50 fan.

Lol crap! To the poster. I removed the stock fan & added two high performance fans in push/pull. It made very little difference. 1-2C maybe. Many people only got this improvement, check reviews. These claims of 7-8C difference have been smoken something or done some serious mistakes.

Just because you didn't get a significant temp drop, doesn't mean others don't.

Instead of making a new thread i'll just post in this one :)
I'll most likely be getting a H50, but i don't want to be spending £30+ on fans.. so if, at all, i buy 1 fan, which should i buy? The Akasa apache?

I might have 2 fans the same (Antec fans from a couple years back i never used), so push/pull might be possible, but if not, what's better, push or pull?
And if i just had one antec fan, would it be better than the stock fan?

Fair enough, maybe yours dropped that much, but i personally tried a push/pull with two 78cfm fans and it barely helped me over the stock fan. Each review i have seen & comments off forums are similar. But if yours did, thats great & you did well then by uprading the fans.

Got it set up in push pull now. Annoying my CPU temp reading is showing as 0c, would be good if true but sadly not.

One thing that is definitely cooler is the case itself, I've had a 4c drop in ambient internal case temperature which has got to be good.
