rigth ive just fitted 1 of these is it fine to put the fan on the cpu header and the pump on the power header cheers,p.s it is noisey the fan is that right, also any suggestions on the best quietest 120mm fans please

Corsair fans are apparently quite noisy, and I don't think that they're PWM (so the CPU fan header can't modulate the fan speed based on CPU temperature). You'd be better off swapping that Corsair fan for a Phobya PWM model.

Yes - pump on constant 12v and fan on the CPU so it can idle when the CPU is not under load. The stock fan is not the quietist to be sure but I wouldn't class it as noisey. I replaced mine witha pair of Scythe Gentle Typhoon's - not so much for the lack of noise but for their claimed ability to generate a lot of static pressure which is what you need for a rad fan.

Fans don't need to be PWM to vary in speed - it can be done just with voltage regulation off the MB.

Yes thats how corsair state to connect them

i used gentle typhoon 1850rpm can get them off ebay for about 10 each, best to use two fans on the h50 as it drops temps 2-3 degrees

(And make sure there pulling the air in from the back of the pc and turn all other case fans to blow out the air out)

:p

cheers for the advice was going to buy a few noctuas for the case aswell but might look into those Scythe Gentle Typhoon's,as ive only got cheap and nasty blue ones in at the minute and they are quite noisey aswell, put it this way you cant hear my 480gtx

Westie69 ive just seen your post ive still got all my other fans blowing in will have to change them cheers

Another quick question about this...

I've just installed the H70.

I've connected the pump to the CPU header, and i've disabeld the Q Fan control thing.. So it's constantly on full throttle.

Then i've connected my Fans to the Chasis... Q Fan control is enabled on this.

Will this Chasis header alternate speeds when under load? or does only the CPU header do this?

Also... My Power fan, i've looked in bios, and they is no control for this to enable Q Fan control or disable it...
Does this mean the power fan is constantly on full throttle?

Thanks :)

if you have disabled the q fan on the cpu just check your pump is running at around 1400rpm and your good to go, and yes your fans will change in speed when load increase, to test this load up the cpu with prim95 you should hear them pick up

Depends on the MB and bios control. I run the pump on the a header marked for PSU which is 12v constant according to the manual and the 2 Rad fans from 2 chassis fan headers which can be controled on a temperature vs rpm map in Asus control panel app. The CPU header runs the old corsair rad fan and just works as an exhaust fan which revs up in line with the CPU temp. I've rigged up a temporary card partition splitting the case top and bottom - the upper part is a back to front airflow with the 2 scythes pumping in and 3 fans ( 2 on top and 1 at the front) pulling out. Under this the flow is the other way with the HD's (6 of them) being blown nice cool air from the front and the PSU taking care of the exhaust out the back. I've also taped up all the vents so air just goes where it's wanted and maximum is pulled through the rad. My only concern is that under my desk a lot of hot air can accumulate which is no good for feeding the rad when it gets sucked in so next job is to put some flexible ducting on the intake to pull air from a cool area of the room or even outside.

Hmm, just ran prime 95.

CPU fan 1380 - 1420rpm which is good. thats constant.

However, Chasis fan 1 = When prime is open this runs at around 2100 (this is my H70 fans) both on the same header).. But when it's closed it's only dropping to 1750

And chasis fan 2.. which i've got down the bottom, this actually drops to around 900rpm..

Is this normal? Or do the h70 fans only drop to 1700rpm minimum as some kind of feature?

very glad i found this post. was thinking of getting a corsair H50 to make things quieter. might just get a new fan to go with it
