I know there have been a few threads about these two but they haven't really cleared up my confusion.

the £12 price difference doesn't really matter

I'm going to leave the pre-applied thermal paste on

I'm going to adjust the fan so that it draws air into the case which ever cooler I get

I've got an i5 that I'm not going to overclock until I really feel I need to.

Which one should I buy?..

No, the CoolIT has got a nice 240mm radiator-ed version coming out. Still pants in comparison to proper WC, but, a step in the right direction.

ahh.

Thinking of spending the extra and going for a smiple second hand loop, but cramming a loop in a q08 will be interesting

I'd wait a bit for the new 240mm rad ones coming soon

I have a cm scout case, with only one 120mm fan on the back, I don't think it will accomodate the 240 version

Don't get either. Only maginally better than a megahelem, more hassle, more to go wrong

I have a m-atx motherboard and think that the larger air coolers will interfere with the ram slots.

240 versions will cost a fair bit more, so don't consider at the moment I think.

In terms of raw performance, the H50 seems to win out by a tiny margin, but the ECO mounting system is probably less of a pain, and it's cheaper, so that's probably the one to go for.

ECO is good, keeping an E0 Q9550 @ 4Ghz 1.325v at 75C max intel burntest in 31C ambient temps, does get a little loud but thats under extreme circumstances, it'll usually be 19-22C or so in the house day to day as its not this hot 99.9% of the year and normal loading will never carry the cpu that far, lots quieter than standard air if you ask me under normal running.
