I just put a pea size amount and spread it out myself. As for plugging the 2 fans straight into the board, you know ive never tried that, i plug mine straight into the block with no problems. You changing the corsair fans then? i was maybe considering that tbh, not because of the cooling but because of the noise. It's pretty loud at full whack, but my case is pretty loud anyway. Your temps for 4.7 seem ok now. For 5ghz you might find it only hits 80 - 85 :)

Thanks for the persistance dave, but I made a few calls yesterday and managed to get an H80 tax free! I know I could/should have priced it up better but the sealed loop seemed the more appealing option. When it comes to that time to make an IB build the whole thing will be getting built around a silverarrow...

Yeah the corsair fans are really really loud, don't get me wrong unless your doing heavy gaming or stress testing its near silent, but as soon as that water temp hits 40c its quite deafening. From reading about it seems either 1850rpm typhoons or apache blacks are the best replacement fans, high air flow, low noise.

All in all this new cooling solution will end up costing about £100, £61 for the H80, £30 on apache blacks and £12 on IC diamond.

Edit: what voltages are you using for 5ghz? if my face stops leaking today I might give it a whirl.

My volts for 5ghz are high, too high for most people. But ive said in the past im using offset and so it's only ever using those high volts once its at heavy loads. gaming/encoding etc. I don't have the best chip for overclocking, im stable for 5ghz at 1.52v now, yeah I know people say don't go over 1.4 or 1.38 but if you don't have a lucky chip then you have to if you want the higher clocks. I may try again soon to get it down a little more, but its over using that maybe an hour a day tops. If you use steam mate add me Cabbage4321 ,maybe we could help each other with the overclocking, you never know.

Not to be confused with a diamond quality rating, IC Diamond comes in two sizes, 7 carat – 1.5 grams and 24 carat – 4.8 grams.

Thank god I read that part haha, the 1.5g tube should be enough for me in the time being.

Sure leeroy I'll add you shortly, steam ID is same as my OCUK name. Would be nice to know, we share pretty much the same parts 2600k/p8z68v pro/8gb corsair/H80/corsair psu. I'm going to look at shaving down my 4.7 voltage first, it peaks at 1.4v on auto which seems too high!

@Dave, those temps are pretty good, core01 seems to be the hottest for me too, maybes its a SB thing...whats the D14 like for noise? I just can't get my head around how fugly the noctua fans are though :p

Idle temps today with no heating on just a shade over 24c :) Time to load again!

Load just over 60c not bad, shame about the fan noise though.
