i can not believe how quiet my pc is now by changing to this its excellent and temps well im just trying to work out how to check them properly...as this is my first encounter with over clocking ive read that i need to run programs to check for stability ...what programs are they .....and are there any tips i need to follow to check...thanks.

Download Prime 95 to stress test the system - few hours should do it (overnight ideally).

You could also use IBT (intel Burn Test) - and run 10 to 20 passes for a quick stress test.

Download Core Temp to monitor idle temps across the cores and alos have it open to monitor temps when running prime 95.

Also, if you haven't got CPU-z - get that as it's a very useful app.

ok getting it now thanks ...i have it running at 4ghz just by adjusting the multiplyer am i right in saying if it all works ok i dont need to touch the voltage? there are different tests to run which one should i use .

For prime i would run the blend test for now and then then a small FFTs later (again for a few hours). But, TBH, i would be amazed if you had stability problems at 4GHz.

Monitor the temps as you stress test - and post back with your temps (you can do this while the app is still running)

What are your idle temps?

the idle are
core #0 35c
core #1 39c
core #2 35c
core #3 34c

but change slightly up and down

Look fairly standard (and don't worry about the slight variations of temps across the cores) - it's the load temps that will be important now.

i plugged it into the pwr fan on the board where it says on the instructions.....is that ok....and the fan in the cpu fan on the board.

Yes, that's fine as long as the pwr_fan is running at 100% load/power all the time - as the pump requires this.

EDIT: Alternatively, you could run it from a molex using an adapter thus guaranteeing a 12v supply (but it's not neccessary)

Erm - give a sec to look at your manual

(i think we've just had a very localised earthquake or a masiive explosion has happened.)

I just got my H60 delivered a couple of hours ago, can't wait to get home and install it. Just need to find someplace nearby in Edinburgh that sells isopropyl/rubbing alcohol. :D

where do you live plec.....what was the noise lol...
you gona use your own thermal paste....ive still got some ic diamond here but using what came with it at moment and looks to be ok...

A very big rumble that shook the house - it's brought the whole street out - had to calm a lady down as i think she thought it was an earthquake about to cause imminent disaster.

I think it was more likely a large undergorund explosion in one of the nearby quarries - but i've never experienced anything like that before. It's cracked some of the road...

Odd to say the least -

Back to your manual...
