H70 - Really that loud?

Having read a lot on how loud the H70 is I was originally put off. However, after seeing the below review with data on noise levels, the H70 does not seem to be to bad. If this benchmark is accurate, why are people deeming the H70 as "to loud?"

Note: I read somewhere (can't find benchmark) that when you put an additional fan on the H50 for the push/pull cooling, then noise is louder than the H70.

Looking for some feedback on this as it is something I am considering purchasing.

Cheers.

PS: The benchmark is using stock fans to.

I didn't even install the Corsair fans because the reports I read about noise. So I went with 2 x Noctua P12s from my old cooler. Currently thinking about getting 2 Vipers.

I can't complain about noise and very impressed with the H70 so far. If I'm bored at the weekend I might try the Corsair fans and see how loud they are.

2x 1900rpm fans is going to be loud no matter which fans you use, Corsair or Vipers. Corsair clearly went for the headline cooling capability with H70 rather than the quietness option.

2 fans at less than 1000rpm would be the only way to get this solution quiet I'd imagine, although obviously the cooling capability would be reduced a bit.

Was considering a H70 myself until I heard about the use of 1900rpm fans to get the temperature headlines.

And of course if you have to buy the unit and then buy extra fans at £10-£20 a pop it pushes the price to almost custom loop regions which is silly really.

Remember, the fans have 2 settings. 1600rpm and 2000rpm. As with any other fan, they can also be controlled via a fan controller if you want to fine tune the balance between noise and performance.

I think this hits the nail on the head. Although to many avoiding the hassle factor of a custom loop is probably worth a few quid. A self contained unit is much simpler to buy set up and install/maintain. Guess that's the difference between the casual tinkerer and the hardcore :)
