H80 controller isn't working with my Gentle Typhoons

So I've set up 2 gentle typhoons with my h80 in push pull. While all is running okay, and temps at idle are about 28, they seem to constantly be on one speed irrelevant of which setting the button is pushed to. Speedfan says they are always just over 2000 RPM. The bios also says this.

I have the 2 typhoons connected to the controlleron the pump, and then the 3 pin going into the 3 pin on the mobo (tried on the 4 pin one too but same result) and I then have the molex connected to the power supply. Really confused by this, as I have tried everything I can think of to get it working properly, but no luck. Also tried the firmware reset trick with no success. Haven't tried the stock corsair fans, but I've never heard of others having a problem with the gentle typhoons. Any suggestions?

Not sure what the difference is between pwm and not pwm, and again not sure if the h80 is. But these fans seem to be the most recommended for the unit, surely they should work fine? I'm worried I got a faulty controller. May have to try the corsair fans tomorrow.

Well its 3 pins coming out of the controller. I've tried putting it in the first 3 pins of a 4 pin fan header, and obviously tried just the 3 pin one (I have a z68 Asrock extreme 4 gen 3 mobo). Not sure why it's not working but it's really annoying me, any more suggestions?

So... with the corsair fans plugged in the controller works fine! And I am very very sure that the typhoon fans dont change speed at all, as you can see the corsair fans changing speed against the glimmer from the light off of the top case fan. And it sounds different too. Not sure whether to put the typhoons back in or leave it for the moment :(

EDIT: Interesting development. The Bios and Speedfan lie when your fans are plugged into the controller thing. I thought that because the controller is plugged into the mobo, that it would be able to read the speeds correctly. But nope. Hmm. Maybe I should put the typhoons back in then as it is likely that they were changing speed. But there really was no difference in sound or air being pushed. Will have to check this again!

Lol for some reason I thought the data was transferred through the pump, totally forgot it has its own RPM xD

But all is good, I whacked OCCT on for a good while and finally got my temps up to 37. There then was a difference in fan speeds when the button was pressed :)
