H80 - Correct way?

Hi all,

I've had my H80 cooler for a while now and I've always had it so the pipes would be at the bottom of the radiator, but I'm just wondering whether you can have it the opposite way around and have the pipes at the top? Or would this affect the flow of liquid?

My system was built via Overclockers themselves.

The pipes are from the top down to the CPU if this provides you any reassurance.

My H60 pipes go from the top of the radiator down but it doesn't matter.

There is a mention of this in the FAQ at the back of the manual that came with my H80i.

4. Do I mount the radiator hose up or down?
For optimized cooling, Corsair recommends the radiator is mounted hose down.

As others have said though it is unlikely to make any noticable difference.

Tbh, I really don't know why that was noted in the manual. It does not really matter where the tubes are positioned. it will not affect the cooler's performance.

Does seem a bit strange but thought it was worth mentioning for completeness. Doesn't really affect me as its upside down in an RV02! lol

with the pipes at the top surely it means more of the warm inside the system is pass them. although i agree this shouldnt be a problem it could be 1-2C difference maybe?

this is if your case is like mine and has both exhuasts (the one blowing out the back is now an intake) at right angles to each other at that part of the case. it does make sense if you think about it but only if you install the thing as an exhuast instead of the suggested "intake".

These aio loops are hardly the epitome of cooling efficiency. Mount it how you like it will not make any real world difference. The single best thing you can do with them is to get a nice fan on there.

I tried rotating it the other day but the pipes hit the fan on top of the case so for now I'll have to use it the "normal" way until I can get a new case.
