Hi Guys

I turned my PC on this morning and straight away noticed an increased fan noise from my CPU cooler - I checked my temps and @ 0% CPU Load my temps were approx 60c across the 4 cores - measured on AIDA 64

The fans were both spinning and blowing cold air into my case and the cooler was lit up - I checked all the cables they were fine

I restarted my comp and it wouldnt post - it said cpu fan failed.

I rewired the power from a new molex from a new cable off my psu and the same happened - cpu fan failed

I restarted again after looking into the bios settings it posted fine and my temps are back to normal, therefore I assume the pump is working now.

I have emailed Corsair support but thought I would check on here to see if anyone has had anything similar happen to their H80??

sounds like the pumps gone. this is why i stuck to building my own custom loop. You can get devices that you can attach a pump to and if the pump fails, program it so the pc turns off imediatly and stays off until you connect a working pump.

Also, replacing a dead pump is cheapish and does require you to take off your whole loop to do it.

too late now for your case so all you can do is RMA it

Its working again now - however my fear is it packing up again without me noticing and cooking my cpu. If it doesnt post its not the end of the world as it cannot damage my cpu, but this is on a home business pc so its its a real pain for work purposes.

Do pumps get stuck briefly then unstick or do they generally pack up mid use?

True, but how much does your whole loop cost against an H80? Also, for matters of convenience an H80 means considerably less faffing, setup, leak testing etc.. :)

At the OP, definitely sounds like you've got a borked pump there. Any buzzing, clicking etc. when the temps were high?

No nothing at all - the only noise was the increased fan rpm trying to cool the cpu temps

it was def getting power as I was able to adjust the fan speed through its 3 profiles and I have both fans plugged into the unit itself.

Its an odd occurance - as getting a cpu fan fail on post the the mobo saw the pump as off i.e. no power, but it def had power as I had touched nothing at this stage.

I have not had a response from Corsair yet - I hope I put the right email address as I was rushing to do it this morning.

"you get what you pay for" :)

tried contacting the place you bought the kit from?

no, he should send ti back to where he got it from and let them do the RMA stuff.

WTF??? That's what I was saying... The retailer is the person you get it from, corsair would be the manufacturer and have no obligation to help you with your problem.

My understanding - it goes back to the retailer within a month ish

If its faulty within 12 months it goes back to the manufacturer - I bought it from OCUK in July 2011 (end) about 4 months old ish

early today in AIDA my CPU was showing 1800 rpm ish - now its showing 3000 ish - thats hugely different but my fans are roughly the same going by the volume

I am pretty sure you get a little Red Card in the box stating If you have any problems to contact Corsair direct and not the retailer or words to that effect.

I'll check my H50 box when I get a chance.

you do get that in some of their bits not all of them though, I have a few recently purchased bits and some def didnt come with the red card, some did.

My H80 was a bit duff to start with - it came with all the screws and stuff just loose in the box, not in the usual plastic sealed bag.
The cooler still had all its stickers and looked brand new so I figured that was how it was.
My cousin bought one shortly after and his screws etc were in a proper bag

Heres the red card you get, I am pretty sure you get it with all corsair coolers?

I am interested In getting the H80 myself.

Sorry for the poor picture and I hope you get your cooler sorted ;)

If your pump is working now I would advise you use it until it breaks for sure as if it works when they test it they will charge you for both postage costs and maybe inspection charge.

My H50 is still going strong its been 2 years now and decent temps through out. I fitted a dust filter to my H50 intake fan to help stop the radiator clogging up with dust.

Keep an eye on the pump speeds, they should be reporting around 2000rpm, also make sure you have the molex AND the 3pin plugged in, molex for power 3pin for tacho :)

I cant take it back as I bought it online from OCUK
I might phone them today as Corsair have not replied to my RMA request - its been 24 hours which is pretty poor IMO.

Origin got back to me quicker than that on BF3 release day.

Id rather not take it out of my system - however my fear is I might be gaming, you can see my CPU oc in my sig and without knowing my temps go through the roof and damage my system - I didnt pay all this money to not game or worse to keep bloody looking at my cpu temps.

I def have it setup right - its worked perfectly for several months. I have had a demicflex dustfilter over the intake since day 1

My pumps speeds according to AIDA is currently 1732 - yesterday afternoon it was over 3000.
No I read on another forum a guy with a fault H50 was seeing the same speeds from his faulty pump - however a lot of people compalined at him for posting his fan speeds.

my fans were def noty going at 3000 rpm otherwise I would have clearly noticed the noise!!!
