H80 pump stopped working

Sorry for quick post, but at work and boss local.

I see above you checked the molex... but with the pc running wobble the thin black wires from the molex to the pump. I know that on the H100s in particular the power molex is a very weak link.

However tight I fit the molex (even pushing the pins in with a screw driver the connection on my H100 is crap and has dropped twice.

You may have same issue???

I just bought some new connectors to rewire it myself weekend, although I know i shouldnt have to I cant be bothered to remove it all. ;)

I will try that in a bit - I totaly agree the 2 pins of the molex connector are in a word CRAP

They are not in very tight and the connector itself is very poorly made.

I did wonder if that was the initial cause - I removed a case fan as the last thing I did to my comp and figured I might have knocked that wire / connector - its the first thing I checked.
However how would my cooler have had power if it had dropped as I was able to adjust the fan speeds??? That is what was odd about it - no power at all would have been an easy diagnose

I just tried this and gave the wiore a good wiggle - far more vigorously than they would have been by accident by me when removing the case fane and its still on and workign perfectly

Although it shouldn't make a difference you did this at the molex end yh?

If its not shutting down I guess you can scrap that idea. Mine seems to lose connection even if a mouse trips over a pebble my neighbours garden!!

yes mate it was the molex end - thats the only end you can wiggle

I have just rewired it back into a molex that is in the back of my case - rather than the fresh wire I run to make sure it wasnt the power cable / connector.

Bearing in mind I always have the middle fan profile selected - my cpu fan rpm in AIDA is now approx 3000 @ 0% load

previously it was 1400 - 1500 @ 0% load now WTF is going on there????
Noise differennce is non existent - it is a bit louder but not double as loud if that makes sense

Does anyone else have a H80 and can they please tell me what the cpu fan rpm is plz?

I have been trying to register on the Corsair Forum to post about this but it wont let me register

It keep saying that I am leaving required fields blank when I filled in every box!!!

BLOODY ANNOYING!!!!

The situation gets worse - comp been fine all day

I was on the phone talking to a client when I heard my CPU fans speed up a lot

I checked my temps in AIDA and my core temps were climbing on 0% load

There is no CPU Fan showing up in AIDA now like the cpu cooler is not working, but the fans are blowing - and my temps are high 50's on 0% load.

I have video'd this - but obviously something is not right with the cooler

It keeps showing up as 235rpm then its gone, then back on again WTF!!! ???

Then back on again at 4000 rpm then temps go back to normal

Then off again and I restart - then CPU Fan Fail

Restart into bios - see the cpu fan go from 250 ish (red), to n/a to 4000 then I reboot and the comp posts fine

All videod as best I could

I bought mine online at another retailer which is bigger than ocuk, went straight into the shop and they swapped it. I dont see the problem. Its the retailer who is meant to change it not corsair.

I have spoem to OCUK just before they have issued an rma but due to the time I have owned it it has to go off to corsair.

upto 28 days I might be without it - in theory thats my business pc out for 28 days, obviously I cannot have that.

thinking about what to do for the best -

Business PC....???

"2600k @ 4.8 /P8P67 Pro/M4 256GB SSD
4GB Vengeance / SLI GTX 580 MSI TF + Asus Direct CU
Corsair HX1050 / H80 / 650D
Auzentech Forte / HD558 / Graham Slee Novo"

....really??? LOL ;p

Ive got a stock cooler you can have if you want it. I don't think it would like 4.8ghz though.

I always set in the bios a maximum temp for the processor before turning the computer off just incase something like that happens. I usually set it to 75c which I think should be ok.

Why don't you simply get something cheap like the coolermaster Hyper (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-035-CM&groupid=701&catid=2330&subcat=2341) to get by while you send the defective H80 for RMA. You will need to back off from your 4.8 overclock to something like 4.2
I think you'll get a quicker turnaround shipping directly to corsair. But they will need proof of purchase (date, serial and order number I think)...I replaced a H100i within 10 days...
They replies to emails usually takes 48 hours excluding weekends...

Didn't you keep your stock cooler?

Worst case scenario could pick a super cheapo cooler! less than £15 perhaps?

As perhaps better to bite the bullet and have your computer working until the RMA is completed especially with it being around Christmas time guessing it will take longer.
