picked up a H80 that I will be fitting today, just wondered if it worth removing the pre-applied tim and replace it with mx4?

You'll see similar temperatures either way, because although the MX4 is slightly better, the pre-applied Corsair stuff is perfectly spread out, which counts for a lot.

Isn't this another one of those things were it doesn't make much difference either way?

Changing TIM and how it is applied can save, what, maybe 5C? Does it even save that?

Try the pre-applied stuff for a good 4 weeks, let the stuff settle and cure.

If you think that it isn't performing as well as you would like then replace it, but don't dry if the mx4 turns out to be rubbish.

Personally, I wouldn't be all that bothered.

5'c is a lot though.

I've tried MX-4 and IC-24 on my H100 and to be honest, it seems like it had the best temps on the stock thermal compound.
