Hey all,

Had my H80i in for a few days now and im just wondering if my temps look normal.

Im using a push pull config(sucking air from outside the case in)im set to quiet mode in CorsairLINK, Im using the stock thermal paste and fans & no overclocking.

According to core temp my idle temp is approximately 40c(i was expecting cooler)after running Prime95 for around 20 mins on a Small FFTs stress test my CPU hits around 55c

Does this look about right or should i re-seat the pump & re-apply some Arctic Silver?

the 920 is a hot running chip anyway even under custom water ive only seen around 35 @Idle so I wouldn't worry your loads temps are good so get clocking :D

Well i took the H80i heat sink off and there was a large dry gap either side of the CPU(like a butter fly shape)where there was no thermal paste, Obviously poor contact even though i made sure the thumb screws where pretty tight.

One thing i noticed when the H80i heat sink was off is the backplate moved around slightly even though the screws where as tight as i could get them.

I had a bit of a idea, I put a small piece of cardboard in-between the motherboard and back plate and that stopped the little bit of give that was there.

I also took the old thermal paste off and applied some of my own Arctic Silver 5.

At the minute my CPU is actually sitting idle at(core temp) ...

Core #0: 30c
Core #1: 27c
Core #2: 30c
Core #3: 24c

10c drop!!!!!

Ill Prime95 later to see what the load temps are like now.

Gonna go to the hardware store today and buy some rubber washers so i can get rid of the cardboard.

Got rid of the cardboard lol, Just been to the local hardware store, Bought four rubber washers and popped them onto the 4 pins on the back plate that the four screws that the heat sink screw onto(if that makes sense lol)

Nice tight snug fit, Its a little warmer in here now as we have the central heating on and didn't earlier when i posted the temps in the above post.

Anyway ....

Core #0: 32c
Core #1: 29c
Core #2: 32c
Core #3: 27c

Still a very nice drop from my original 40+c

:D

Best way to mount is using the central area of backplate to support mount .. make a sandwich with CPU mount and CPU between backplate and heatsink.

This keeps the strain off of PCB and only on socket, CPU and waterblock/cooler.

Load temps are down 5c!

Just ran a prime95 Small FFTs stress test and max temp was 50c, Pretty happy with that. :D

Nice temps but you should really get that D0 overclocked:D to at least 4ghz

Mine idles @ around 40c and gets up to mid 60s this is using the trusty old corsair H50 cpu cooler running @4ghz:D

Took it to 4GHz :D

Been a while since ive overclocked and cant remember what voltage i was stable at before, Just doing some testing, Currently at 1.27v .... Been running Prime95 for the past 15 mins and looking good so far.

Highest temp ive seen so far is 70c but seems to have stabled off at 64 - 67c thats on quiet mode too.

Those temps are fine mate similar to my setup @ 4ghz.

Mine is running stable @1.27 volts also and has been for years now :D

Im using a HAF 932 case btw our setup is very similar.

I not been happy with my H80i, it hits 65c or so playing DA:I at stock on 4770k....idles about low 30s so i am sure the contact isn't great will check sometime soon.(heard they are a pain to get good contact with and i didn't get all 4 washers with mine so didn't use any perhaps i should get some?)

Keep in mind the H80i is not as good as top air coolers.
