H81m-Plus Help

It will support Haswell out of the box but maybe not Haswell refresh, Devils Canyon and the Pentium G3258 unless it has a very recent bios installed at the factory. Bios 0804 is needed to support Haswell refresh, 0807 for Devils Canyon and 2001 for Pentium aniversary edition (G3258).

Ahh "/

Thanks for getting back to me
.. I just relised I ordered the both (g3258 and h81m-d plus) and I thought the h81 had the usb re flash but it doesn't "/ assuming the only thing I can do now is get a hold of a older processor and update that way?

Can anyone offer any other suggestions?

Found out today that the processor I was going to borrow was the i7 3370 not 4470... bummer "/

Whats the cheapest cpu can I put in just to update, so that I can put my g3258 in?

I would suggest you try the G3258 to see if it does boot. If it does then flash to the latest bios using Ez-Flash in the bios. You don't need to have windows installed to do this. If it doesn't boot then a Celeron G1820 is the cheapest you will find. It launched with back in 2013 so should be fine to flash the bios. Keep a eye open on second hand places for one or even a Pentium G3220.

You are welcome. Let us know how you get on if you overclock the G3258 on that board. I am trying to make a list of what does and doesn't work so that people don't have to buy a Z97 board for this cpu.

How would I post a print screen up?

I wouldn't mind showing my values in hwmonitor, so people can guide me if I have got anything wrong. This is my first time ocing...

Still on stock cooler at the moment, cooler master decided to send me some nuts with no threads in "/ so I can't install it yet.

seems to be 73deg max at the moment with 4.2 oc

Open paint, ctrl + v to paste the screenie, save it then upload to Photobucket, Imageshack or whichever you prefer, get the link and post it on the forum.

I reckon you are going to hit 4.4Ghz before being temp limited with the stock cooler going by what I have seen with other people so far. Pretty poor QC from Coolermaster to let that slip through.
