Is anybody here more exp on this? I had a fire start in the loft room of our house, it was a small Delong* Blueflame Callargas heater. 12kg Butane they take and they have an open flame which caught fire to a blanket I dragged over which was my stupid fault. The problem was it would not die and the problem grew,I burnt up my hands then I tried suffercating it with blankets that just c\ught more fire ....... WHICH would have BEEN OK WITH A FIRE BLANKET (I advise everyone to learn from me and buy a few sets)

I wont go into more detail but the bed caught and its lether and I was at a point of purely risking my life moleather bed was black in smoke, I opened a window to let out smoke and got out I managed to get down and 999, Once
butane gas was mentioned I was told to get out.....

,,,,,,, the feeling of watching your room go up and be powerless over ul.was aweful.

I was lucky they came in 5 minutes. The whole loft is gone the midflooor is midway but had they of taken 15 minutes the damage would be neighbours lofts and our midfloor gone.and

2 days before a holiday too!!!!!!!!!!!!! We were advised to get it boarded and enjoy. Right so lets fast forward 2 weeks later we get back into the uk.

Its been about 3-5 days now insurance came out and electrictions.

Right the problem is we've no internet (oh no) and I require it for working, banking and sorting out this fire. I bought a laptop on holiday while using their net (UK SITE I bought it from). I am on it now. We are living at my grandads now and I wified BT WIFI FOM but poor signal and HIT AND MISS if it worked but I paid a fiver. I was thinking of cancelling my adsl and going for VIRGIN MEDIA as we can now get 100mb upto FIBRE!! I can use their 3g dongle??? while I wait or here at grandads. I have lost my HTC DESIRE HD IN THE FIRE I am going for a SIII contract .

Ok. We have bigger problems than no net just that its sweet for help, etc. The past 3 days weve been cleaning the room up

2 MAIN PROBLEMS

DAMP

SMELL

Awful to hear you had a fire.
Shame to hear you tried to put it out by throwing more blankets onto the fire.
Hope all get fixed up and other can learn from you basic error of feeding a fire fuel, and the consequences of those actions.

You again? Jeez, it must be exhausting living your life. Ever tried being normal for a while?

Butane gas heater. Open flame. Loft. Blankets. What could possibly go wrong?

Reminds me of my mate at college.
He fell asleep with candles alight on his table, of course few hpours later the entire desk surface was on fire....

His Idea.....

Throw a sleeping bag on it, thats right a ******* nylon sleeping bag, well that of course went swimmingly. I don't think theres a rolleyes big enough for that bufoon lol.

Sorry to hear about your house tho mate :(

Hey there,

This is 100% serious, I had a housefire in March 2009 - completely gutted the entire thing. Nothing was retrievable (except for one Everton top and a guitar capo).

It's not the house which hurts, it's the mental plague afterward - you cannot stop thinking about it - non-stop.

I hope you have a better experience than I did.

this tbh

is this a true story, OP?

a house fire is a personal nightmare of mine but in all honesty what you've done is what i'd expect from a 12 yr old.

btw. your loft room does have a fire door ........ right? or bye bye insurance claim.
