Was travelling down the A13 at about 60-70 mph (the speed limit is 40mph) not paying much attention to the BMW behind me UNTIL its front grill starts flashing white and blue lights...

So I slow down to 40mph and the car overtakes to my right, and keeps level - the gent in the passenger seat puts four fingers up and mouths "Fourty! Fourty!" to me. I nod to acknowledge, and the kindly Pow-leece go on their way...

Who says the pigs are all swine eh?

I seem to get on with the law quite well.

Been busted so many times for speeding I've lost count. Even raced an unmarked copper off the lights once, he stopped me and first thing he said was "jesus, that thing flies dont it - can I have a look around mate"?.

Only ever got done once in 16 years driving.

Think it runs in the family cos my brother got caught doing 99mph in a 30 (not a built up area before anyone starts) and only got 3 points and a £60 fine. :D

I had similar on new year's eve. Chasing a Gallardo up the M5, unmarked car starts gaining rapidly on us so I slowed down and pulled in, traffic cop in passenger seat motions at me to slow down and they went off after the Lambo.

Just as well I couldn't keep up or they may have tugged me :D

Traffic Police these days are out there to keep things safe, not bust your balls. Obviously there are the odd few still out there clutching their big thick book waiting to list from memory every fault you made by code in th last 5 minuites of them following you, then they will endeavour to check round the whole vehicle and find every detail they can screw you for.

I generally go with the flow of traffic where I deem it safe which is usually 10-20 mph over the speed limit away from the built up 30 zones. I've overtaken Police vehicles on the motorway at 80+ but then so have the other 5 - 10 cars around me. We're all going the same pace and are theoretically safer that way. If someone then blasts past at 120, then the police are gonna want to stop them as they're just taking the piddle.

I'd be much more obliged to stick to the limit if I was warned like cleanbluesky rather than having some stuck up book thrower enjoy putting me down and rape my wallet.

Once I went speeding through a town centre and undertook a line of cars in my GTE (one was a police car I didnt see)
The copper pulled me over. even found a breaker bar down by the drivers seat - whoops.
I told him the truth - Id just got the car fixed and was "giving it a bit" to make sure it was ok :D
He said the breaker bar looked like a weapon, I said it was a tool. He told me to keep it in the boot :p

We had a joke about it, he gave me a producer and that was all. :)

Reasonable guy tbh. :)

My dad got pulled at 120+ by a Rover Vitesse on the M6 a few years ago..empty roads (it was 10pm and he was heading home) and all he got was a talking to and told to slow it down a bit.

I've been lucky really, been caught once by a van doing 60 in a 50 before some roadworks on the M4, but I've gone past a marked police car like he was standing still heading home once (90+) on a dual carriageway and all I got was a headlight flash and I backed off straight away.

Common sense does prevail sometimes.

My dad once told me he was behind a silver Skoda Octavia and was wanting it to go faster because he was late or something or other but soon backed off when the car in front lit up like a christmas tree :p

I've been let off for driving through a red light - was pulled over.

I've been let off for teaching someone to drive my car late at night in a car park - stopped by undercover Police car (not traffic or usual beat bobby, plain clothes)

And when I had my crash I admitted that I was doing such and such speed to the Police Officer and they said they didn't want me to have 3 points and £60 fine because I had already learnt my lesson.

I guess it just depends on your attitude and whether you pass their attitude test. :)

Lucky boy.... could have been a ban...

But yes you are right, they arent, its the speed cameras that everyone hates...

:D

After watching a few TV shows where they follow the police, the police generally assess weather you mean any harm and weather you were in reality endangering anyone else but yourselves for whatever reason.

People forget Police officers are human too, and I think the general way they are working now is to be more like a friend or parent type figure keeping things under control, rather than the image of just being there and busting balls just becasue they can.

Things like using an empty car park to let someone have a go in a car kind of thing. In the past you'd get the book thrown at work, now the idea is they have bigger fish to fry. As long as they know you know the risks and that you're not immediately endangering others, they're just there to give advice and make sure you and the others around you are safe.

Cool Cozzers whatever next :p
My touch went like this.
About 2.30am steaming through town. I thought it was quiet enouth to ignore the red lights and just blasted through them. No sooner had i crossed the line when a Cop car popped out behind me flashing. I lifted and come to a stop winding my drivers window down as they came alongside. The passenger copper says to me What gives you the right to jump red lights then mate.
I looked at him and said Sorry dude i just took a liberty, Sorry.
He looked at the driver and the driver looked at me and said Go on **** off and take it easy. Do it again we'll nick you. :D
Funny thing was i pulled off behind him and stopped and the next red light and he just drove straight through.
I was going to chase after him and moan but i thought better of it. :D

I must say in my many dealings with old bill i have come across some right decent chaps. The local old bill are usually complete ******* but the guys from the RCS etc are usually pretty cool guys. Dont quote me on that though the next time they kicked your door off and beat the crap out of you. :p

Bit of a test, albiet one with them breaking their own laws though.

Never been pulled on a road but got pulled in a car park for letting my mates hang onto the back of the car and get towed on their skate boards, the cops didn't look best pleased and I think they would have tried to do something if they didn't already have 2 people nicked in the back of the car lol

They've been nice with me too. I’ve been pulled for speeding twice, both at about 3am and I was never even breathalysed or given a producer. Seems if you are polite enough and haven’t done anything serious they will be ok. There's bound to be a few exceptions though.

My bosses mate is a trafiic bobby and he has some funny stories.

Best one so far was on Xmas Eve or New Years Eve, I forget. Everyone he cought that eve speeding he posed them a question:

Tell me how fast you were going within 5mph and I'll let you off, lie and I'll do you (not literally of course...).

He said guys who were doing over 100 were really squirming at that one, do you tell him the truth or lie your ass off? :)

The bloke across the road from me is a traffic copper for West Midlands police and some of the stories he used to tell us were hilarious and sometimes horrifying. One of the best ones was this, he pulled over a car for speeding and asked for his licence, the bloke said he doesn't have 1 but he uses his brothers, he then asks about insurance, "not to worry, my uncle is insured". It also turned out that the car was his dad's and had no mot or tax

To me the best 1 was when he again pulled a car over for speeding and it turned out that none other than The Hoff was driving :D , he had a car full of people who kept saying "but this is David Hasslehoff, you can't arrest him" :D

my sis just got 6 points for 109 on the M6 when clear etc.

if only police were concerned about safety. they are just as ignorant as the people they are trying to police

I was once doing a about 90 on a motorway, never even saw the police car in my rear view mirror, must have been at least a minute or so! Anyway they flashed me and i pulled over to the middle lane and they were on their way.

99.9% of the traffic guys I've been pulled over by are nice fellas.

There's been the odd complete **** here and there, which i've posted about on numerous ocassions before, but on a whole, they are mostly all petrol head enthusiats.

Best/nicest ones to pull you over are the bike cop fellas.

Last one that pulled me only did so to ask me how I found the Mille as he was considering buying one to replace his auld Fireblade. We had a chat for about 20 mins on the RSV's virtues.

I came onto a motorway once and was at up to speed at 110 by the end of the sliproad (which went along side a little and i could see there was nothin in the first 2 lanes) id already moved into the middle lane cos of somethin up ahead so i was gettin ready to move into the fast lane but when im checkin my mirrors i see the next car behind me in that lane is a copper

was thinkin im totally screwed but i lifted off and let it slow without showing him my brake lights (wasnt anythin close enough in front for me to need to brake, just dont leave lane changes till last minute). it got down to 80 and he caught up and went by and ignored me. phew
