Had a stable overclock for 6 months but today something weird happened

Over the past month I have been getting some stuttering in games, nothing to big but just able to notice it occasionally and over the last two days I had a couple of crashes in games.

So I dropped the overclock by 100mhz and was still getting issues even at the same voltage settings and had to drop it another 100mhz to get it stable for gaming/everyday use. I will try IBT/RealBench overnight and see how it goes but is this something to be worried about? I'm thinking maybe the board is on it's way out.

It could be temperature related given things have been a bit warmer over the past month !?! Might be worth looking to upgrade your Evo 212, it's a worthy cooler if you're on a budget but there are better options available if you need improved performance.

The temperatures have been fine so it isn't that, I have ran Memtest and no issues there and since downclocking my i5 and my GPU no issues.

CPU's degreade over time, needing more voltage for lower clocks.

What voltage are you running and is it on air?

As has been said it may be degradation which is why I always up the voltage when I'm doing my initial testing to get a stable system then back the voltage off so that I know I have some headroom. This allows small voltage bumps in the future if required, not had to do this with my last couple of CPU's as the voltage required has dropped in each generation and voltage control is better.

If you have been conservative on the voltage then I'd see what a small bump does for stability.
