Sorry for blasting this forum with question after question but it is invaluable to tap into expertise for someone as technically retarded as me!
You might be aware my PC is fairly enclosed under the desk. Moving is the ideal option but not really practical space wise. Hot air is building up at the back so I decided to mount a 200mm fan in the desktop above the rear of the case to pull the warm air out. This was simply going to be connected to the PSU by 4 pin molex which would mean full speed all the time. Being a bit if a quiet freak this concerns me so I thought about fan controllers- just a cheapo manual one.
On looking in my case at the mobo when fitting the new case fans, I have seen I have a CPU opt fan header. My idea is to use the 3 x 120mm stock case fans I took out and mount these in the desktop instead using a 3 way 3 pin fan splitter going to the CPU opt header.
Will this work? Will I then be able to ramp the fans up and down as the rest of them react to temp increases? Will the 3 pin be an issue on this CPU opt header or will I need a PWM converter cable because if I remember correctly when I first got my PC the CPU cooler fans ran only at full pelt.
Thoughts appreciated.
