So between this year and last year I have gained 1 years driving experience (was only 8 months when first insured the car), I have turned 25 (you know the whole insurance 'age barrier' thing) and I have an extra years NCB (2 years now)...

And yet I have had a mere 10% cut from my already heinous premium... which still leaves a pretty heinous chunk to contend with...

I'm with Adrian Flux, and I have an MX-5 1.8i ... can anyone recommend where to go for a better quote...

Can't recommend where to go, but get a different insurer, my brother had no end of problems with them when he had to make a claim (Contested non-fault which took nearly a year)

I'm 25 and just passed my test. Got an insurance quote of £780 fully comp on a Corsa 1.2 16v 2000 reg. That was via the 2 major insurance comparison sites.

Went to Tesco and got a quote of £710, so pretty happy with that!

im only 21 but fully comp with tesco for me 93 astra 1.4 is £698 (ive been drivin for just over 2 years now) so i'd imagine at 25 it should be cheaper

Try privilege - despite my turbo and modifications they quoted me a shade under £500 FC. But I do have 8 years NCB and IAM etc...

Give it a go and see what they are like. Admiral have been good to me in the past too.

you might be worth trying the one through the owners club (although they were pretty rubish for me) and maybe greenlight, but flux have been one of the cheapest for me recently too. Shouldn't really make a difference which insurance company your with as such, more the underwriter that will make the difference if you have to claim, in which case your proberbly better dealing with them directly anyhows

I got a £300 drop with my first year of tesco and a £30 drop with my 2nd.. pitiful, but no one else can compete for the overall cover (about £280 tpft). I'm 23 with 2 years full license in January.

Yeah, people bang on about NU saying that doing Pass Plus gives you a 50% discount - only because their policies are 50% more expensive ;)

I usually end up with Fortis via my mate who's an insurance broker - although Privilege are usually about the same price.

About £400 FC with protected bonus, not bad for group 16 :)

greenlight have offered me something attractive... any reason I might wish to steer clear of them?

They're fine, funnily enough most of the insurance they sell is NU underwritten.

NUD have lost the plot recently. Rates are all over the place.

like freefaller said, privilege are pretty good for me too.

they were approx £80 cheaper than most other places for me.

Tesco are pretty good too.

i enquired with A-Flux on the insurance for an evo8...they wanted £1900 FC! Tesco wanted £1200 LOL

I assume you've tried this?

Bang your details in, watch the results come in. Then pick the best price and visit the website manually for a cheeky extra saving ;) Although this is morally reprehensible.

Haha, they gave me Endsleigh at a certain amount. I tried the Engdsleigh website, who gave me a 'prelminary quote' of that price, which then doubled as it asked me to confirm a few details for an "extra saving"

haha NU just quoted me a humorous £2.2k
:/ I'm with them, have one less NCB than you, have a 1.8 MX5 and am 5 years younger than you, and I am paying 700 a year with them.
