I just put my new PC together last night and there's a ticking/rubbing round coming from the side fan. It's like there's a cable rubbing on the blades but I've looked around the fan but can't see anything obvious.

I really don't want to take it all apart and RMA the whole case!

Any ideas? Could I simply RMA the side panel? Or just get a replacement fan?

Maybe it is the dust filter thing? Mine appears to be laying on the center of the fan so maybe part of it is sticking out and touching the fan.

Could be the filter had similar sort of sound coming from the fan on my FT-01 it was a loose fiber from the filter on the fan.

Yup that was the problem, one of the little tabs that hold the filter in was rubbing the fan.

Thanks guys! :)

Vtec9k, how do you find the Noctua? I have a HAF X too, but I haven't yet decided what cooler to go for in my new build. Would be interesting to see how hot it gets under heavy load.

It's doing pretty decent, it fits with plenty of space in the HAF X.

I've not started benching and overclocking yet, only built it 2 nights ago. It runs about 28-30 idle and 40-42 under full load in a reasonably warm room. I was pushing about 46 after 2 hours of Prime95
