HAF X

Right, I'm going to order one of these.

Quick question: As far as power supplies are concerned, will the cables that come with most modern power supplies reach all the components OK? Specifically, I was going to go for the Corsair Gold AX850...

My 932 is on the desk to stop the kids playing with it lol

The HDDs are suspended on elastic so there's no vibration through the case chassis from that :)

As for the PSU cables, I've got a Corsair HX model psu in mine and the cables reach everywhere with no problems at all :)

Just wished that HAFX was longer than 55cm. My HAF 922 is at 56.3cm and HAF 932 is 56.4cm. Other than that it is a bad ass looking gaming case :).

Cheers, I guess I can order extension cables if I have any issues. I've promised myself to make sure cables are tidy in this, so I think I'll be wanting to route some cables behind the mb tray and stuff like that.

Any tips welcome, I'll be bunging two 6950s in there too :)

On second thoughts... just seen this in the OCUK review section for the AX850:

"I got the psu today as part of my new rig. I could not believe that the 2x 4 pin cpu power cable was so short! I have a Cooler Master HAF X case, and the only way to get the cable to reach the psu is to have it stretch across the motherboard, rather than being routed behind the back plate and down to the psu keeping your case nice and tidy.
So if you have a full tower case DO NOT buy this psu, the cables need about an extra 6 inches to be functional."

You may well need an extension cable.

Thinking of buying the HAF X for my new build. It only comes with one top fan, right?

How much will I gain from adding a new, extra fan at the top? I obviously know that this depends on the rest of the build, but if someone could give me a rough estimate, that would be much appreciated.

Do you need the extra cooling?

If more air enters the case through the intake fans than air leaving through the exhaust fans the surplus air will be forced out through any other gap or crevice in the case, preventing dust from entering by this route. This equates to positive pressure.
Positive pressure inside your case will help keep it clean and therefore cooler. In the real world this is more difficult to achieve because of computer cases being very "leaky" and most fans having fairly poor delivery capacity. The more air you put into the case the faster it will run out the other side (through exhaust fans and case openings combined).

Do you need an extra exhaust fan? It might cause dust problems!
