Haggling within a contract period

I know that there are varied rates of success haggling with TV, Phone & Broadband providers most commonly when outside of a contract period.

However as other Sky customers are probably aware sky are raising the price of a monthly bill by £1.50.

Not much but as I'm provided phone & net by an independent provider I pay £35 a month for TV with a HD package alone, so any saving would be welcome. I don't tend to watch it that much but have a lodger that it keeps happy.

So has anyone had any luck haggling with providers whilst still inside a contract period?

Any successful haggle would likely come along with a renewed contract. So if you are tempted to leave, you might find it easier to just wait it out and cancel at the end.
