clearly steam hasn't moved to the darkside yet, it says that to me as well with my 3200+ when its below 2.4Ghz, fools ;)
 
I just installed lost coast the otehr day and i swear it said you need 2.2ghz and noted my X2 at 2ghz being too crap. how come yours is saying 2.9ghz did they change something?
 
its an intel processor. so steam assumes its equivalent clockspeed to an AMD is a lot higher.

cept for the fact taht core 2 duos are awesome chips...

Does Steam prevent you from playing a game when you get that report? or can you continue to your game and take a chance that your specs are ok ;) LOL

Happened with both my Oppy170 and my old X2-3800 I had :)
 
Bit of a silly error from Steam really, it's not like Mhz means the same anymore (i.e. a 2.4Ghz Conroe would beast a 4.0Ghz P4)

Don't what ever you do start the game up as it'l surely crash or run at like. OMG OMG how crap are conroes, im going cirix instead :D
