I currently go to the barbers every couple of weeks and get my head shaved (I'm going bald, it's the only haircut that looks 'decent'), but as it's £7 plus couple of quid tip I'm considering just getting some hairclippers and doing it myself, or asking my wife to assist :).

I've seen some around £30 and less but they seem as if they might be a little on the cheap side to allow a decent job to be done with them.

I can't be the only person thinking of doing this, and there must be someone that's tried it them selves, so can anyone recommend some harclippers ?

I've always used a pair of Remingtons (I've been doing my own hair for the past 8ish years) and I'm still using the first £30 pair I ever got!!

I use a set of Babyliss, no idea how much they cost as I won them in a raffle :p

If you're just shaving you don't really need much more than the shaver and the appropriate guard.

But yeah, back of the neck is a pain to do.

Jokester

Sounds like those ceramic bladed remingtons could be worth a look then :)

They'd just be for what I get at the barbers, a Grade 0 right over the top, same at the sides.

I've gave a tip of a pound or two for years, don't know if anyone else does it though.

Thanks for the info.

i shave mine a lot, use the remington titainium ones. my mates got some wahl (?) ones and theyre really really good!

I've got some Chrome BaByliss ones, always worked ok for me.

What do people do on the back of the neck? Your supposed to get someone to straighten it with no guard on, but I can never be bothered :o

I got some Ben Sherman cordless ones from Argos it has a narrower head than traditional barber's ones - easier to trim body hair with.

Hey im hyjacking your thread as its a pretty simliar topic;

where can i get some hair thining sissors, im growing my hair but it goes really 'boof'

I got a set of Vidal Sassoon clippers for £16.50, rechargeable, thereby no cord, no oiling required and they do the job superbly.

My old Remington set lasted for about 6 years and didn't cost much either.
